I have uploaded already several views of Patagonian glaciers, in particular Perito Moreno glacier. You can see in my gallery a scene of glacier calving, and presentations on the color of the glacier rivers (glacier milk) which are created in that process (HERE or HERE). You can watch people hiking the glacier. You can also see other POV to Perito Moreno, or have a look at another glacier, Glacier Grey in Chilean Patagonia.
In this capture you can see again the milky green color of the glacier lake (Lago Argentino). This photo was taken after Perito Moreno trekking. For more info on the trip please refer to notes for other photos in my travelogue Patagonia 2010.
Perito Moreno Glacier is a glacier located in the Los Glaciares National Park. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Argentine Patagonia. The 250 km2 ice formation, and 30 km in length, is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field located in the Andes system shared with Chile. This icefield is the world's third largest reserve of fresh water. The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of only three Patagonian glaciers that is growing. The reason remains debated by glaciologists. The terminus of the Perito Moreno Glacier is 5 km wide, with an average height of 74 m above the surface of the water of Lake Argentino, in Argentina. It has a total ice depth of 170 m.
Francisco Pascacio Moreno (18521919) was a prominent explorer and academic in Argentina, where he is usually referred to as Perito Moreno (perito means "specialist, expert"). Perito Moreno has been credited as one of the most influential figures in the Argentine incorporation of large parts of Patagonia.

spettacolare questa serie di livelli.
Dalle rocce si passa ai ghiacci e infine alle montagne di fondo.
Colori ben saturi e luce perfetta su questa scena.

A great definition, with a spectacular composition.

From your title I thought you'd photographed baby harp seals being clubbed or something. So I'm pleased to see that it's just spectacular scenery and killer photography. The blue tones in the ice really is fascinating, I don't think I've seen colour like that anywhere else but in glacial ice. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a good day.

Another super Patagonian landscape Mariusz. The colours are very natural and sharpness excellent. I like the banded landscape and the contrast between each element. Very nice indeed. Best regards Rosemary
josepmarin (58357) 2011-02-03 4:46
there is a fantastic contrast between the color of the glacier, of the rocks in foreground and the colors of the sky and of the lake, with an attractive range of tonalities, from the white and the bluish hues of the ice, up to the intense blue of the sky.
The landscape is superb, its wild and natural beauty is perfectly caught in a good framing, under a great light, and the composition has harmony and is very well balanced graphically.
A beautiful work, my friend.

Excellent quality, fine colours and perfect sharpness.
Wait my postcards soon!

This is a pretty nice picture. You've certainly captured the feeling of bleakness here. The layered effect of the moutains and glaciers works well while the FG is good focal point with detailed textures to make this image stand out. The lone tree on third LH is an added interest. The colours are good and it's sharp and well exposed, the lovely low hanging clouds and mountain tops in the distance intensify the impact further. Really a good shot, Congrats
JFS (32459) 2011-02-03 7:32
The scenery is amazing and the quality of your shot too. TFS!

another fantastic layered photo.
this time we have 5 layers of varying color, shapes, and textures.
the orange FG rocks, the smooth water, the jaggedy glacier, the white tipped mountains and the powder puff sky..
all these elements keep the eye very busy yet still very interested.
great work my friend

Another really wonderful shot of the glacier, love the different colors of the warm earth tone and ice cool, the lake actually looks abit gray, made me thought this might be the Gray Glacier for a moment.
Makes me wish to do it again.

A really breathtaking scenery here! Brown and Blue makes a nice layer of colors. Your excellent handling of exposure is well evident producing those fine, crisp and sharp and clear details and texture. Would love to see more of the sky though. Nonetheless, a wonderful photograph! Cheers!
All the best,

5 different colored textures are beautifully layered to compose artistic view,
of course the center blueish white glacier is most attractive to my eyes,
and left lone tree on the rock is nice accent here,
light and colors are splendid, and very cool atmosphere is so fine in this picturesque scene,
thank you for your excellent shot,
Graal (102752) 2011-02-03 23:43
rzeczywiscie kolorow tutaj nie brakuje. Ladne ujecie, szeroki kadr. Lodowiec przyciaga wzrok. Dobrze rozlozone swiatlocienie, brak przepalen. Miejsce fantastyczne.
emka (96408) 2011-02-03 23:44
OPiekne zjednoczone kolory patagońskie. Och, milo powspominać wspaniałą wyprawę. Muszę cos poszukać w swoich zdjeciach i tez wysłać. Wspaniały widok po trekkingu.

Piękny dziki i mroźny kraj. Zastanawiam się czy tu też żyja ludzie. Kolory wspaniałe, a lodowiec i góry nad nim wprost kolosalne. Bardzo dobra jakość.
snunney (98253) 2011-02-04 0:42
A very attractive landscape composition captured under a pleasing soft light. I like very much the way you have framed it making an angle between the warm toned background and the cool icy tones offered by the glacier. The image has very good colours and sharpness.
kordinator (20515) 2011-02-04 0:58

danos (97431) 2011-02-04 1:58
one more beautiful shot from Patagonia with the age-long bluish glaciers to steal the show. The image is completed with the reddish rocks on the foreground with the contrast between the glaciers and the rocks to be superb.
Have a good day,Danos
Urs (14082) 2011-02-04 3:22
Impressiv POV with bold contrasts the red vs the white, and in a way also the blue. Excellent sharpness and nice color hues. The impression of your shot signals coldness. The glacier must have cold temperature, otherwise it would melt. The clouds are very dramatic. Well done
yeln (11516) 2011-02-04 5:00
ne vem kaj naj rečem drugega kot, da je fotografija tako čista in z lepimi toplimi barvami, da bo lahko z roko prijel kamne in led!! bravo, zelo lepo!!! tfs!
lep dan, vojko

Blue of the glacier on the red earth is truly impressive. Sharpness on the glacier is perfectly applied. The title is also so nice. Very refined work.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi

Very impressive landscape !I love the contrast between warm colours of the rocks in the foreground and the cold tones of the glacier in the background. Funny to see the little tree on the left in such a hard place.
jemaflor (96741) 2011-02-06 12:15
Great landscape with this icy panorama, well taken and tfs, good light capture.
Longroute (19396) 2011-02-06 13:15
This is maybe the most famous of all the glaciers here.... and here too you have been lucky for the weather....
what can I say for a photo like this?
I's much easier to comment a mediocre photo than a masterpiece like this one! sure, no joke intended! At least that is for me.
When the photo has this quality and this beauty I feel that words are useless. It's an apparent simple composition but I guess you had to think a lot what to choose when you were there!
My best compliments,
adramad (45302) 2011-02-07 7:50
Again you give us a very beautiful composition of these glaciers, magnificent image with distinct levels, first reddish rocks, the soft blue of the glacier, from behind the magnificent snow-capped mountains as a backdrop and a beautiful sky.
A composition well aligned, with good brightness and a very natural and attractive colors.
Good start to week. Best regards.
jafadabret (56501) 2011-02-07 9:51
Une trčs belle photo pour un paysage extraordinaire ! J'aime les couleurs du glacier qui s'opposent ŕ celles de la roche du premier plan. Les montagnes et le ciel achčvent cette composition de belle façon.
Angshu (56750) 2011-02-08 7:10
Quite a spectacular scenery! On one hand we have a FG which is reddish rock, framed like a big triangle here. In isolation, this almost has no correlation with what we see in the BG...the jagged teeth of the iceberg with snowy mountains beyond...almost a paradox created for our eyes! Surreal indeed!
paololg (31448) 2011-02-08 15:07
Ciao dear Mariusz,
it's really difficult to capture this kind of landscape with this perfect photographic quality. You have managed the strong light in fantastic way, getting an unbelievable definition of the details. I very also appreciate the way with which you have composed this photo, with pleasant horizontal colors that oppose well. Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice day!
