One more postcard from Buenos Aires.
Torre Monumental (formerly Torre de los Ingleses) is a clock tower located in Retiro, Buenos Aires. It was a gift from the local British community to the city in commemoration of the first centennial of the May Revolution of 1810. After the British-Argentinian war for Islas Malvinas (English Falkland Islands), the tower was renamed Torre Monumental.
Information modified after Wikipedia.
The tower is built in Palladian style, the building is decorated with symbols of the British Empire and features the thistle of Scotland, the English rose, the Welsh dragon and the Irish shamrock. The tower reaches a height of 75.50 m and has eight floors. There are clocks at the 35 m level, and the bells were designed in imitation of the ones at Westminster Abbey. The tower is topped by an octagonal copper roofed cupola. Above the entrance there are the shields of Argentina and Great Britain and the inscription al gran pueblo argentino, los residentes británicos, salud, 25 de mayo 1810-1910 (To the health of the Great Argentine people, from the British residents, May 25, 1810-1910).
Sorry my signature is so huge but the vertical frames (in TE) become on the screen almost twice the size of horizontal ones, I completely forgot about it.

This is a nice shot of this tower. The palm tree provides nice balance for the shot. The plants in the foreground adds depth for the scene. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness. The vertical format emphasizes the depth of the scene. The sky is great and you have captured it nicely.

Hello MAriusz ,
Excellent composition in this vertical format , to present us these interesting buildings .The sky is superb . The presence of a palm tree is allways a real bonus . A pitty that the green bush in the FG was not flowery .

You got such a beautiful picture of that place in Buenos Aires!
I specially like the chosen pov, the vertical format and the composition, but sharpness, exposure, colors, contrasts and pp are all excellent here as well!
TFS - congrats,

Une atmosphère limpide pour une image contrastée et nette.
josepmarin (57799) 2011-01-18 4:42
the low POV creates a strong effect of perspective and gives a great depth to the image.
I like the balance between the plants in foreground, the clouds, and the blue sky, and I believe that the slenderness of the tower, of the building and of the palm adds a beautiful vertical geometry to the set of elements of your composition.
A good light and a saturated-well colors, in an attractive and executed-well image.

bella vista su questa torre contornata da un bel cielo.
Il prato in FG conferisce una buona profondità alla scena.
Ottima la resa cromatica.

A large vertical composition, I love the POV chosen this group of plants in the foreground and the background nice centering the image, good looks on that sky high splendor, the elegant palm and other trees adorn much this beautiful image, which other side is perfect when lighting and beautiful colors. Very good and interesting note.

What a wonderful light you have captured here!
I do like the composition with this flower bed in foreground which enliven the scene and create a great sense of depth, and of course the tower is an outstanding subject with its architecture, colour and position. But what makes the image so fine and appealing is this bright light which is a pleasure for the eye. The sky too makes a difference: a postcard: yes! but with a difference!
Very good Mariusz,

good angle to capture the "torre", I like the perspective and the parallelism between the tower and the palm, well done,

AKITA (15125) 2011-01-18 17:16

Excellente presntation of this hight tower with a POV very well selcetd nad very efficience. The large (and graphic) FG give a greta depht to the image. Superb and impressive sky well collecetd too.

I don't think light was kind to you here, almost overhead, rather 'Indian' light! Like the compo. a lot with the inclusion of the hedges in the FG. Nice 'race' of verticals here...the towers, the palm trees racing up towards the sky!
Juntas (7960) 2011-01-21 8:24
Hi Mariusz. The low pov makes it even more monumental. The colors are very nice and sharpness is great as usual. Strong light was well captured and the bush on the foreground gives a special touch a a big depth. A great job, well done.
Have a nice weekend.
Urs (14082) 2011-02-10 22:23
Excellent POV, I like these green plants in the FG which lead the viewer to the tower in the BG. Do not know why but the tower reminds me of Rabat in Morocco. Vibrant color hues with high sharpness. well done

First , dont complain about having few time in Buenos Aires, you manage to obtain perfect photos with good notes, still is called Torre de los Ingleses
Creative way to capture the tower against the the blue sky
I am curious to know the hour you did it, no people seems over there, a dangerous place, do you noticed the train station on the right??
