The main destination of my trip was Patagonia but to diversify the holidays I wanted to spend couple of days in a city as well. Buenos Aires sounded always incredibly exotic for me. I remember several Polish songs which I heard already as a child which were mentioning BA in a very exciting context of travelling. I had no doubt: if I could see only one city in Southern America it had to be Buenos Aires. I spent there 3 days visiting most famous touristic places. Both me and my wife, we loved it and we could definitely use some more time there.
We have soon realized that the guidebooks do not give justice to Buenos Aires. Can you imagine that the lonely planet guidebook to Ireland (where I live now), a country which is roughly 32 times smaller than Argentina has more pages than guidebook to Argentina (732 versus 668 pages respectively)? I dont want to offend anybody, comparing is always bad, and the beauty is not measurable, but not many countries in the world can compete with the amazing variety of landscape which you may encounter in Argentina.
What I am trying to say is that there is so much more to see and do there, and the guidebooks do not even mention that. And this applies to Buenos Aires and Argentina in general.
This photo presents Palacio del Congreso.
Congress of the Argentine Nation (Spanish: Congreso de la Nación Argentina) is the legislative branch of the government of Argentina.
Situated in Buenos Aires at the end of Avenida de Mayo, at the other end of which is located the Casa Rosada, Argentina's parliament is bicameral and is made up of the 72-seat Senate and the 257-seat Chamber of Deputies.
Designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Meano and completed by Argentine architect Julio Dormal, the building was under construction between 1898 and 1906. Inaugurated that year, its aesthetic details were not completed until 1946. The quadriga atop the entrance is the work of sculptor Victor de Pol; local sculptor Lola Mora graced the interior halls and exterior alike with numerous allegorical bronzes.

Nice image of the Palace of the Argentinian Congress, well caught by means of a good framing.
We can enjoy all its elegant architecture and its impressive dome, in a composition that complements itself with the lamppost and the tree in foreground, and with the presence of the people walking under the Sun of the austral summer.
A beautiful work, very well executed.
rodgerg (55767) 2010-12-16 3:50
A good presentation of this cityscape with nioce and various colors under a cloudy sky. The large FG give a greta depht to this image rich in various details very well colected.
delpeoples (58572) 2010-12-16 4:54
I thought this was Dublin when I first saw it. The arcitecture is amazing but so European. I love the vibrant colours and contrasts. Is the dome slightly distorted or is that my bad eyesight? Anyways, the shot is excellent. TFS and I wish you a beautiful day.

a beautiful picture of wonderful view in Buenos Aires,
all are composed very sophisticatedly indeed,
especially the smart green dome and fore orange ground are well contrasted in whole view, and right organic figure of the tree adds the warm feeling to other artificial objective scene,
thank you for your excellent shot,

wonderful to hear your passion for this area, the best "travel book" are the words written by tourists like yourself. did you find it safe there? any worrysome moments?
lovely postcard, you know i love these shots!
excellent idea to include the orange colour in the FG to compliment the architecture. very sharp and clear as your usual work. not as many people as i would imagine.
great photo and story

A wonderful post-card from Buenos Aires, The lighting and clours are really great and I really like your inclusion of people that makes the scene vivid, Your composition and POV are really great. One minor thing is that personally it would perhaps have taken step or two the left in order of having the lamp-post slightly more to the right, but I guess that this is very much a matter of taste. Your positioning of it is really good choice. TFS and have a nice weekend!

wspaniały budynek rządowy. Dlaczego władza tak lubi lubi luksus i splendor ? Ot, takie moje naiwne pytanie retoryczne. Świetna kompozycja w letni gorący ( co widać po panu bez koszuli) dzień. Jedynie ta latarnia może niepotrzebnie przełamuje zdjęcie na pół.
Urs (14082) 2010-12-18 4:34
Superb, this contrast of the red-brown square vs. the blue-white sky. The FG is even bolder and more vibrant then the BG, but it works well. Good photo job.
mauro61 (52857) 2010-12-18 11:25
molto belli i colori e la resa dell'immagine con l'architettura di fondo perfettamente definita.

Guidebook are only to give a general idea of a place, it will never justified any place. Also it can be the matter of taste of the person who writes it.
Anyway, I would have like to a spend a few more days here as well as many other places in Argentina, but we do the best.
This is a good shot, I don't remember too weel of this particular location. I was surpose to see the jackaranda tree is not blooming yet. Strang to see the red cover on the ground and no green. I remeber seeing some but a mixture of flower and some grass area. Looking forward to see more.
p.s. I use Adobe Photoshop to stitch my photo, I do it manually in layers.
PJE (20758) 2010-12-19 17:28
Mariusz having read your comments, and from what I have seen on the internet about Argentina I would have to agree with your completely. I think what really attracts tourists is a wide variety of scenic landscape and magnificent culture and architecture revealing the work of human hands in a country. This is what you saw here and now my guess you want to return to see more to discover. Thank you.

First thanks for the note !!!
Do you know something about people from Argentina?
We are "famous" for believing we are the best..in any champ, so, take care not no make good comments about Argentina, we will ask for more
Second great capture, creative , a pity the "ceibo" , on the right side had lost its flowers, but well managed to cover the half crashing building behind
If you become homeless, you know now where you can live
