This is often photographed at sunrise, but the snow provided enough illumination at sunset to maintain shadow detail. Thanks in advance for any commentary.

Hi Michael,
Wow! the colour of the light is amazing here and the tree in the foreground which we are looking over is a great introduction to the scene and leads our eye in. Beautiful scene with lovely layered aspects and great depth. Looks like a scene from Lord of the Rings.

Wanda

Hi Michael!
Fantastic composition with superb colors, lights and shadows. I like the beautiful snowy mountains in the background and the lovely trees in the foreground.
Congratulations!
Csilla

Hi Michael,
What an absolutely stunning photo! The composition is perfect, the light beautiful and the amount of colour and contrast you've managed to get into the photo is great, as I know places like this can look incredibly brown, grey and flat a lot of the time (to mere amateurs like me anyway!)

Regards
Lee

Hi Michael
Fantastic soft light on the Fitz Roy
I really like the way you framed this picture with the golden trees on the foreground.
Cheers
JP

Michael

Hi Michael,

it's simply a wonderful view. Your image brings all the details of the Autumn in Patagonia. The vertical framing fits pretty well. You made very good use of the elements such as the tree on the foregorund, the lake and that gorgeous mountain on the back. Very fine sharpness and clarity. Superb!

Carlos

Hi mike

Hi Michael, I think that this is El Chalten, not Calafate... Because that must be the Fitz Roy... isn't it? Great picture, how do you get the softness of the water?, you made that in different pictures.

Amazing light, difficult to get those mountains free of clouds... you were lucky. And nice autumn colours. Chau chau,

Maria

All the wind and cold of this place in a single shot.
Great light and a perfect picture
Stefano

Hi Michael

Very beautiful and unique color with a great composition and amazing POV. Those mountain range are looking amazingly beautiful , Water is looking amazing too .

Regards,

Lopshang.

One more for my favourite landscapes theme. This is a perfect shot. The warm colours looks like its Autumn, even if it isn't. Exposure is great, composition is brilliant. Nice foreground interest linking to the magic on the back. Love the windy clouds. What can I say more... Nothing.

Hello Michael!
Such a great scenery and a very dignifying picture!
I really like the colors: the sky, clouds and mountains are superb! The framing trees at the bottom are a highlight as well!
TFS - Congratulations!

Having seen Patagonia, which is stunning in real life, your capture here is stunning Michael. You have the artillery in using the Hasselblad but it takes the eye to capture something truly remarkable and for me this is the best landscape I have seen here posted on TE, and believe me there are some very excellent landscapes on this site. Great lighting, great composition, great colours, great shadow and highlight detail and finally the scene - Patagonia in its glory. Brilliance, TFS Michael.
Regards
Jim

Hello Michael,

This image is entirely underrated. It is truly one of the most compelling photographs I've seen at TE in the 18 months that I have been a member. The composition, light control, colors and resolution are extraordinary. As soon as I create some space among my favorites, I will adopt it. I've seen images of the mountains in the Andes before, and they are at least as beautiful as any in Europe or Asia, and you have done a spectacular job of photographing it. Bravo!

Warm regards from Virginia,

Bulent

Hi Michael, this is breath taking picture. Lighting, POV, coposition, colours, moment ---------EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!!! I LOVE IT!
BEST REGARDS JIRI

What a great image. light, composition, color and forms, trees, sky, place, moment... all is a fenomenal.
Thanks for sharing this beauty. Best Wishes.

This hasn't have anything to do with equipment, although I'd "give a finger" to have that Hasselblad of yours.
It has to do with those wonderfull places you visit, but mostly with a special sensibility you must have.
That sky is a photographers dream and the foreground is brilliantly chosen. This is a step ahead of a wonderfull mountain landscape.
I'm tempted to include all your shots in my favourites :-)

Michael: a true favorite, into the desktop folder. Some unparalleled Stuff in your opening pages. Green to follow. c
