Photographer’s Note
The wild Valdes Peninsula hosts a fantastic fauna including armadillos, killer whales, foxes, penguins, sea lions, etc. High above the beach, my daughter sat
fascinated for hours watching killer whales go "sealing"(...like in "fishing") for lunch. Here are two whales and a sea lion pup (the latter in grave danger, needless to say). Walt Disney did a great disservice to predators, always depicting them as the the "big, bad guys." Well, killer whales, intelligent mammals far more closely related to us than sea lions, have to eat too. I rooted for the whales....
and, in this case, won!

Hi Michael,
You really were in the right place at the right time! A dramatic moment well captured.

Hi Michael,
you have many interesting images in your gallery...i like this one very much...i watched a decent documentary about young killer whales being though hunting by their mother...in exactly the same manner like presented on your image...undercover below the water surface up to the limit before performing an unexpected strike...cheers, arturo
