Photographer's Note

I have a love affair with the Volcano '' THE LANIN '' I call her my volcano standing over 3,700 metres high she can be seen from so far afield around the southern regions of Argentina - one can be driving around the countryside looking at the views & then SUDDENLY this MAJESTIC Volcano rises up in front of you - on this occasion my husband & I were camping by this beautiful lake & had no idea that we would sight her.
In this image I would say the Volcano was around 60 klm West of where we were.

This is just beautiful with a phenomenal subject range with no part of the image being empty or dead. The DOF is fabulous and the the composition, as also the choice of format, are just perfect with the eye, continuing to explore upwards from the pelasant FG through to the beautiful COI which is perfectly placed to finally capture the attention. Very well done indeed and, albeit belated, a very happy New Year to you too.

Hello Dawn,
A beautiful landscape composition dominated by these lush blue tones. The snow-capped volcano looks lovely against that clear sky. The image has immense depth and superb clarity. The pebbles seen through the clear waters in the foreground are a definite plus giving the composition interest across the frame.

Welcome back from your travels, it seems South Aus and NSW were amazing. But here we have the beautiful (and slightly cooler) Argentina. The vertical frame is well-chosen. The silvery blue tones are wonderful and I love how we can see the stones in the FG through the limpid water. The effect of the reeds and their reflections are the icing on the cake. Well done.

J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. Tu as saisi une grande partie du lac ce qui donne beaucoup de profondeur à l'image, le tout pointant vers ce pic blanc au fond.

This is stunning, Dawn.
Transparent water, perfect snowy cone-shape mountain on far, and fine lake scenery.
Blue tone achieved from bright sky aloft.

In this case I take an horizontal picture with a low position to give more depht in the foreground.
A good gymnastic for back troubles :)

Impressive range to this shot, Dawn - from the stones under the surface, up close, to the picture-perfect volcano in the distance, with everything sharp and nicely exposed. The mist and atmosphere creates a nice and increasing blue tinge the further back in the frame you go. And those reeds, appearing as if out of nowhere as they blend perfectly into their reflections, are a great central element. Nice work!

The distance between the small rocks and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The poinbt of view is showing the details and colors of the mountains. The lioght has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

A simple beauty in limited color scheme but you have exploited within the space constraint to your advantage. Making use of the reeds is wise choice as strong anchor adding a finer definition to the mid fg while the eye is obvisouly glued to the white snow peak at the same time. An eyecatching and the lighting is great, the water textures further add to a quite an alluring picture indeed. Very well taken and presented. Congrats, TFS

Hello Dawn,

Difficult to judge.
I like the open space(great composition) in
the picture: that makes it nice calmenss and
the vertical position and the layers creates
a nice depth. Also great is the light
managament.

What I don't like (sorry, but I think that
I must be honest) is the whitebalance/color
in the picture: it's too blue (even the
mountains are too blue). On the other hand,
I also know that making pictures in the
mountains is one of the most difficult
subjects and the sky had at that moment no
extra's (no clouds)
My advice: try B&W. You cover the sky and
you emphasize extra the calmness in the
picture and you make the picture "more
timeless".

the blue tones provide an interesting chromatic intensity to this image, I like the great depth that you have caught in this beautiful landscape of the lake, with the majestic presence of the volcano covered with snow in background.
The contrast is magnificent, and we can enjoy a few nice reflections on the water, which occupies two thirds of the framing in an effective structure of the composition.

Wonderful cool tone of the landscape. I think there is no need to remove the blue tone of the picture since it is what you see in your eyes in that situation. Excellent atmosphere.

A wonderful clear water, we see perfect the stones under water in foreground.
Also the nice white top of the mountain, with a little bit reflections in water, between the vegetation.
Perspective and depth are absolutely nice done.

The distance on the water leads the eye to the snowy peak and goves much deepness to the image. I like the transparency of the water and the rocks showing underneath. The blue tones in the composition are beautiful to see.
