Residence of the Ambassador of the United States of North America
History of the Palace
In the area of the Zoo, next to Palermo Parks, Ernesto Bosch and his wife, Elisa de Alvear built their house, Bosch has finish his work as ambassador of Argentine in France, and was just been called to Buenos Aires by the elected President Roque Sáenz Peña for the post of Foreign Minister
Like many Argentines, they had spent a long time in Paris, alternating their official duties with the worldly and elegant life of the Belle Epoque, the Bosch would not leave Paris without assigning the project of their Buenos Aires home to the renowned architect René Sergent
Materialization of the building was not easy nor cheap. It took dozens of detailed drawings, materials and decorations sent from the other side of the Atlantic, along with the work and interpretation of the architects Eduardo Lanús and Pablo Hary
All under the constant uncertainty and high costs involved by WW1, with ships threatened by torpedoes across the Atlantic. However, the September 6, 1918 the residence halls were open at social life, calling the smartest people of Buenos Aires
Excellent recreation of the grand hotel particulier during the eighteenth century, its most likely source of inspiration was Chateau Bénouville in Normandy, built by Claude Nicolas Ledoux, whose work Sergent especially appreciated
Years later, just before the famous financial crash of 1929 and the revolution of September 1930, the property owner also definitely change. Shortly after the visit to Buenos Aires of elect president Herbert Hoover, the U.S. ambassador Robert Woods Bliss managed to overcome the resistance of Ernesto Bosch and his wife, and acquired the building following the strategy defined by the State Department, which sought to enhance the U.S. presence abroad through diplomatic enclaves that reflect the spirit and image. No other residence of Buenos Aires has best recreated a corner of Washington that the neoclassical Palacio Bosch
In a very hot day , near midday, I was in a taxi that stopped at the red traffic lights, my attention was called by the open windows at the second floor

La version grand format permet d'apprécier la belle architecture de cet édifice.
Il est amusant de constater la différence de style par rapport aux immeubles environnants.
Note très bien rédigée.

To my friend down South, gracias! :)
O.K., I want to be ambassador, this is much nicer and a lot bigger than my place! Wow, the perks of being in that kind of position, yeah? I bet the meals are much better here as well. :)
This is great...a residence in Argentina for an American diplomat, and built by a Frenchmen. Why...it's yours, mine, and ours! :) A beautiful place indeed, and you've made it even more appealing by using a colorful foreground base of flowers. This angle also helps provide a strong sense of scale and dimension.
O.K., I'm packing my bags now, the next time you pass by here, you should see me in one of those open windows. Oh, if only it were that easy!? Thanks for thinking of me. Have a wonderful day ahead.
Cheers from the top side. Ciao,

Excellent view of a nice architecture from a very good angle. Presence of two straight forward high rises in the bg made the palace look more gorgeous and strong. A wonderful quick shot from car with outstanding details.
Thanks for sharing.

That is a beautiful palace, and its classical proportions look perfect. Your note tells and excellent tale of perseverance against the most almighty challenges to get this place build as desired, and today we can appreciate that perseverance with this fantastic built legacy. The trees in the shot add a lot to it too, creating the sensation of a beautiful warm day, as your note says.
Great image and note, many thanks!

Most enlightening note with the history of the house and owner, Maria.
Evidently, Senior Bosch was influenced by French colture and architecture's style.
No-less by far an intriguing shot, from a POV that included its most facade's part and side. The purple flowers added charm from the park area to the view.
Well done my friend.
Buen fin de semana,

I now consider myself amongst "the smartest people of Canada, as you wrote, after having seen this elegant building that you captured by the rules book!
Good idea to conceal the cars behind flowers; consequently this voyage in time machine appears more realistic!

This is a quite nice building with lots of fine architectural details. The other buildings are very different, which tells us about an ever growing and ever changing city. You were lucky to find such a nice composition from the taxi window, especialy the blue flowers that look good by themselves and almost hide the other cars.

A stylish image beautifully illustrated and worded, a fruitful effort under such circumstance taken from inside a vehicle. A nice piece of architectural shot bags of detail to admire and you did well with the framing and having some bright colours in the fg and blue sky are nice break to almost monotonous greyish surrounding. Pleasant to view lighting is managed well A fine photo work, Congrats

That is a fine building with good architectural details fit to house a President! let alone a ambassador. I like the patches of green and some beautiful lavender coloured flowers you were able to capture in this busy capital city. Excellent note to inform us about the passage of this house through the past years. Nice presentation I like it. Thanks for sharing.

Le taxi c'est bien arrêté au bon endroit, ainsi ton angle de prise du bâtiment est parfait, il permet de voir les deux cotés du bâtiments, la voiture presque cachée par les fleurs, une belle lumière, que demandée de plus !!!!

this seems so peaceful and quiet. The US embassy in Ireland looks like a fortress and people with arms are guarding the entrance. Maybe you like Americans more than Irish? Good use of the blue flowers in the foreground. I think I would probably cut a bit in the left side and focus on the main façade with the flowers, but you seem to feel very unsafe in your city taking photos mainly from a car without stopping and getting out of the car. Are you an Argentinean celebrity?

Excellent view to beautiful building in superb light. I like the composition with nice blue flowers in foreground. Superb tight crop.
Wish you a very nice rest of the week.

nice the view as the presentation of the Bosch Palace with the lot of floowers and the trees to create a beautiful environment. The excellent light and colour management enhance the charmy of it.

Interesting classical architecture, popular here in the 18th century. And a fine historical note of its ownership evolution and perhaps the "ugly American" take over.

It is a very nice shot of the palace with lots of details of the architecture. The light is good and not too strong. I like the fact that you included the Lily of the Nile in the foreground to add depth to the compositon and block the view of the cars. Thanks. Have a good day.

Hola querida Maria,
your taxi stopped at a great angle, you framed and captured this view in a very effective way. In spite of the tight frame, we also get a good idea of the urban context this beautiful building stands in. I like very much how its solemn colour is surrounded by more vibrant tones. The details are attractive, light and shadows have been managed superbly. This house has an imposing character and I can't help wondering what its interior is like. I also like how you rendered the hot day atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,
