Photographer’s Note
This is a continuation of my “Trekking Donkey” post (you can find the note here).
Well, that day I had decided to walk in some of the trails of the hills in the Tandil region, which are about the only few elevations in the flat Pampas; the place is also home to a good variety of birds, with nice photo opportunities; one of the hills is even named “Sierra de los Pájaros” (Hill of the Birds)
My idea was doing some light hiking in that hill, with the resulting benefit of the exercise, and even more important, some nice birds photos (future post, I hope).
After reaching the summit (and crossing with the donkey) I was surprised by some guanacos and llamas (‘cousins’ of camels) quietly grassing on their own.
My surprise was because those animals were totally out of place… by very far. (They are common in the Andes and Patagonia regions, some 800 kilometers to the west or south, respectively).
Later I got to know that they were part of a reserve where they are breeding them for wool; and that was surely the reason why they did not run upon my sight. (My other experiences with them in different regions of Argentina, always resulted in them running upon notice of human presence).
But well, we crossed about some 20 or 30 meters away… we assessed each other as a “non dangerous species”… and kept about our businesses… that, of course, after some photos.
As with the donkey shot, I had a “bird lens” on the camera, and although I have some “full body” images, I preferred posting this one where the animal seems to be questioning what was I doing there, also out of place… of its place.
Raw Capture at ISO 200 – f4.0 – 1/1250s @ 300 mm.
Post processing: raw conversion (DPP) to Jpg, and then cropping, contrast (curves), USM and save for the web.

Olá Carlos,
This is a really out of place and a curious "trekking donkey" good or excelent post. NICELY captured AND your signature to this great approach view and comunication level with nature and animals. Splendid AND your great creative view, so my return friendly critiques by the the same way of sharing life and moments by your view.

Bonjour Carlos,
Daniel.

Carlos,
Llamas are popular pets with some folks around here. Looking at this picture, you can see their beuaty must be a factor in this. No points left yesterday so I didn't post on this lovely photo. I can't really add to the excellent critiques above; I can only add your vision of this lovely creature to my favorites. My thoughts best mirror agrafes.

Bonsoir Carlos,
Very well done Carlos.
Amitiés.

This is beautiful Carlos. Love the narrow depth of field meaning that the subject is so in focus, with a nice blurred background. I like the positioning of the subject in your shop. Great stuff.

Hola Carlos,

Hi Carlos,
An outstanding shot of this donkey, with just the right level of sharpness. I like your framing of this and the blurring effect is most enhancing and tastefully applied. Well captured.

Ricardo
