Rain, World Cup, Match
Time 13.45 (game began at 13 hours)
Shot taken at the end of the first part of the game when Argentina was playing with Belgium, while the one posted yesterday was taken minutes after the beginning
Here I am showing a smart place of my city, Callao Avenue, with a mix of European and modern flats and apartment buildings at the sides

The game had started, so what on earth were you doing in the street? Were you not glued to the TV, like everybody else? :-)
Actually I am glad you preferred to take photos instead, because this is a very sophisticated composition, looking almost monochrome except for the streetlights and their superb reflections in the wet street. The person with the bike on the zebra crossing gave you a fine foreground and the lights further back create a great depth.

So you are not a soccer fan, I take it? How on earth could any Argentinian be outdoor while the Gauchos where playing?
But having said that, this is a very pleasing composition with the white stripes of the street crossing as good starting point to explore the scene. The man and his bike add a lot to the success of this composition, indeed I think without them it wouldn't work.
have a great week

The street looks like Calcutta in many aspects after the rainfall.Excellent shot of the cyclist crossing over the zebra mark.Intelligent use of color and monochrome to get the desired effects.Very well done.Keep sharing.TFS.

Hola Miss Maria,
This is similar to my recent picture, one person...seemingly all alone in the big city. I imagine most of the streets were as empty as this one, and it will be even more like a ghost town on Wednesday. The city and country must be buzzing with excitement though, yeah? :) I remember some French cities being like this during important matches, a completely different look and feel around town during that time. Now, why weren't you sitting right next to the television during the entire broadcast as well?? :)
A great idea to break away and catch this scene, the weather may have been gloomy, but it makes for a terrific opportunity to take an original photo. The reflected red lights on the wet pavement, and the striped crosswalk are super visual elements in this setting. And of course, the lone bicyclist adds that human presence which is needed to really express the lack of urban city life at this particular time. Smart, well framed and I hope your camera didn't get soaked. :) Enjoy the rest of the evening. Be good.
Cheers from the monsoon desert,

Its a rewarded shot indeed and worth sacrificing your time just to show us how important soccer is when the street is almost totally deserted as everyone is glued to the box. To the great majority, soccer is in their blood just like your neighbouring country Brazil. That cyclist is vital in making the shot to otherwise meaningless and i love his position with luxury of space ahead to move on and this greatly has enhanced the compo whilst the sparking lights & touch of reflection are just awesome to complete the atmospheric shot....
Great effort on your part, Congrats

You are right, it looks like a deserted city. The reflections of the red lights and of the fellow walking his bicycle are pleasant.

Ha! Ha! Maria, this definitely shows what an impact the World Cup had on the city! To see so few people is remarkable! However, it did allow you to get this excellent shot, in safety!
The rainy conditions have given the street a great, reflective surface so that the red lights are multiplied, giving a great visual effect.
The lone cyclist adds emphasis to the emptiness all around.
Have a great day,

I like pictures like this one a lot. The every day scenery shown in quite special way which makes even the rainy street look pretty. The colors are very sparse but the street lights add some contrasting red tones which liven up the whole composition.
Well composed and framed, with excellent sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Hola Maria querida,
this could be Academias Street in Athens, it crosses a great part of the city centre and leads to the Greek Parliament. I like this photo very much because it represents for me a deep and casual view into Buenos Aires and reminds me of Athens at the same time. I love the textures and moody colours of the city after a rainfall. The red lights, the reflections, the walking cyclist and the graphism of the crossing in the foreground make for a consistent and interesting scene. I love the deep perspective as well. Congratulations and thank you!

Excellently captured image. Great timing. I quite like the red reflections...

Again you managed to use the rain for a nice compo., wet road relected the lights beautifully.
There is one lone lady who was not sitting indoor's watching the game ...
Nice taken with good depth along the modern neighbourhood.

Aha, it's like the Beatles album cover, but your own creative take on it :) nicely done, once again this rainstorm has provided you a unique and very special moment in the city. It is almost like the metropolis has taken a deep breath, and everybody missed it. Except you.

Hola mon amie Maria :-)

Good sharpness and graphism with the black white and grey tones predominating in this minimalist color shot. Nice reflection s in the wet street. The lone cyclist adds a good focal point and is well positioned off centre. The bg street adds perspective. Tfs!
