The Buenos Aires Design is a mall in the neighborhood of Recoleta. It is part of a tourist and leisure center, next to the Recoleta Cemetery, Recoleta Cultural Centre and the popular Plaza Mayor Alvear (known as Plaza Francia).
Opened in November 1993, is the only mall in the city of Buenos Aires entirely dedicated to the design, construction, equipment and decor. It was designed by architects Clorindo Testa, John Genoud, Giselle Graci and Eduardo Bompadre as part of a complex called "Terrazas del Pilar ", developed by the firm Emprendimiento Recoleta SA, with the collaboration of Alto Palermo SA and the State Bank Group.
The mall has 3 levels and 100 shops. The first level has a terrace of 3000 m2 which is related to a food court along an open gallery. The main wall was in the past part of the Asylum Viamonte that date from 1900. Here we can see the top of this wall with the original statues on the top of it.
