Crossing the Andes... Photo

Photographer’s Note

This picture is taken from about 3500 meters above sea level on the road crossing from Salta in Argentina to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile... It's taken from the bus and of course it's taken through the window...
Crossing through this pass is a fantastic pretty expirence, BUT TAKE CARE... At the highest point it's about 4700 meters above sea level and without aclimatisation it's hard and not good to the helth because of to little oxygene in the air... By bus the trip takes about 17 hours...

This is a great photo, nice and sharp and with vivid colors. That road looks wild and you have captured all of the curves well from that perspective. I might suggest cropping the sky slightly, just above the highest peaks so as to give more emphasis to the road below.

Very nice, Ina, this really shows what the place looks like. Nice composition and good layering of the mountains.

The sky is perhaps slightly oversaturated.

A great view, Ina - I love the way the road snakes up the side of the hill. A fabulous capture given that you were shooting from the bus. You have overexposed the sky but this is necessary to get the right exposure for the land. A possible way to avoid this is to underexpose by a stop or two and then lighten the dark areas in post-processing.
