Photographer's Note

The Salinas Grandes (Salt Flats)

Are over 3,400 meters high, in an area of 2100 square kilometers (located between the 10 largest salt flats in the world), a white spot looking crisp and sectioned in arbitrary hexagons
It extends at the side of National Highway No.52 road to Paso de Jama,in the province of Jujuy in the middle of the northern landscape.
The crust has a thickness of 8 to 30 inches, which still are exploited in an artisanal way, it’s the result from the evaporation of inland saline waters of volcanic origin, formed from 5 and 10 million years ago

While enjoying and visiting the pools of salt, you can appreciate the work of salt´s artisans famous for their works (sculptures) of...obviously.... salt

There the silence is only broken by one's steps on the dry surface or some vehicle crossing it

J'aime cette composition minimaliste avec seulement 3 couleurs, le format vertical avec un long avant plan et cette camionnette rouge qui se détache bien sur fond de sel blanc et ciel bleu

what a coincidence, I was just thinking about Argentina and I have posted a photo from Buenos Aires a second ago and we are almost neighbours here!
Fantastic shot here, great idea, very creative. The rectangles make a great geometry and lead the eye to the red car. Amazing sky too with lovely clouds.
Excellent work and I am so jealous -I would love to come back to Argentina, now with my little daughter and visit the Salta region.

Les salines sont immenses. Chez nous la plupart des salines ont fermé pour cause de délocalisation au Maroc

Hello MAria,

What a difference a small detail can make!

The landscape is already striking by itself, the sky is gorgeous and you have captured this scene in a very efficient way. But indeed, this red dot on the horizon transform your image instantly, adding a layer of interest. It is perfectly placed in your perspective and it brings a direction, a strong focal point that is inversely proportional to its size.

Excellent perspective of teh salinas , with the red car as an attracive focal point . The sky is superb , too , even it woul have been yet better if you've not cropped the cloud in the high part . But this is a minor detail .

I do like this geometric salt flats . The 4x4 in the back is just a good presence for the scale and contrasts with the white pallete. Sky gives an atmosheric mood.

Magnifico POV que nos da una gran perspectiva de estas salinas, me gusta en enfoque centrado en estas grandes pilas para recuperacion de la sal, la roja furgoneta a lo lejos, es un complemento ideal.
Un cielo esplendido que es un gran bonus para la composicion.

Hello Maria,
This is an excellent composition from an unusual scenery. The rectangular light blue pools are remarkable by themselves, and also give the picture tremendous depth, but the way they lead my eyes towards the red van is magnificent. That small red detail is really like an exclamation mark. The clouds are very beautiful too. It's a perfectly exposed photo in what I believe must have been a rather difficult light.

The alien surface of the salt plain and the endless blue sky to lure the viewers where you have captured the beauty of the spot. has creado una composición muy poderosa visualmente, jugando con la perspectiva de las salinas, su blancura, la presencia del coche rojo, y el contraste de todo con el magnífico e intenso cielo azul.
