Photographer's Note
I was in the little town of Cachi, in North-West Argentina, waiting for the bus with this group of school kids. It was the last day of school before Easter and the kids had a huge smile on their faces, as they were holding what was probably the only chocolate they would have in the whole year. Chocolate is a luxury that the poor people of Cachi can't afford.
Just before I took this shot, the girl standing on the left dropped her chocolate egg in the drain that runs on the side of the street. She was visibly upset, but she didn't cry. She simply bent over and picked every single bit of the broken egg that had fallen into the water and put them in their original container to take them home.
I took this photo with a compact film camera, no flash. I then edited the photo on photoshop - I cropped the sides a little and adjusted the brightness and contrast. I wish I could use photoshop a little better and could fix the building at the back, which is overexposed...but I couldn't!
I welcome your comments and critiques - don't be shy!
Thanks
Valentina
