Photographer's Note
After we left the city of Mendoza we travelled over 200 klm's & found ourselves on a high mountain pass which was horrendous - we reached the '' FRONTIER '' at the highest point which was around 4000 metres above sea level & the wind was howling.
There were other visitors that had travelled on the same road as us for the sole purpose of visiting the '' Monument of Cristo Redemtor '' ( redemption ) I will upload a photo of the Cristo Redemtor some other time.
After prayers & photographs were taken by the visitors the area soon became deserted & for the tourists they went back the way they came from - on the Argentine side.
I wish we had done the same as the road going down the pass towards the Chilean Border was really a nightmare.
We never imagined how bad the road was going to be & my brave husband did remarkably well especially with a wife who is afraid of heights.
The day was a disaster we got to the border only to be turned back - missing a document - not blaming anyone here just one of those things - our only Saving Grace was we had the main road to travel on - heading BACK towards Mendoza.
We detoured away from Mendoza towards our next stop for the night - that day we travelled around 700 klm's. '' the scenery of course SPECTACULAR ''

Hello Dawn,
The journey sounds rather horrendous, what photographers do to get their pictures:-) A simple composition of this roadside cross, but very well presented. The upwards point of view sets the white cross off beautifully against the clear blue sky. Superb rendering of the textures in the rocks and landscape.

We see clear that on these hight no green grass or other vegetation grows.

Bonjour Dawn,
Une très belle contre plongée qui met bien en valeur cette belle croix blanche sur fond de ciel d'un bleu très pur. J'aime beaucoup.

Hi Dawn,
The distance between the cross and the building is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the cross and of the building. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

very beautiful the framing here catching the shapes of the rock and the white cross and the rustic building ahead with this beautiful blue sky above. I intend to know this region soon as possible.

Hi Dawn,
This is a very interesting post about the border between Argentina and Chile. Sorry about your bad day ! But you took a beautiful picture of this frontier pass , with the white cross standing out so well on the perfect blue sky and the barren landscape.
I like the colours of the rough grey rock and the pink earth around.
A moonlike landscape if it hadn't been for the manmade cross and hut.
TFS and kind regards.
Marie-Louise.

Hi Dawn,
Your note complments your picture really well, it looks very much like an out of the way and hard to reach place. Nature seems to be taking back over again, and being able to capture this with no people inside, enforces the feeling of solitude well. Sorry to hear it was such a bad trek, but nice to have this fine image to look back on. Thanks for sharing it with us.
All the best
