This lovely lady was taking in all the excitement around her - I watched her facial expressions for almost half an hour - surprise & dismay - approval & disapproval - her own sadness & tired demeanour at times almost becoming too much for her.
Not a hell of a lot of fun getting old.
God bless her.

The juxtaposition between the old lady obviously lost in her thoughts and the two cool young men in the background makes for a powerful composition. A well observed and presented image that has a story to tell.

A wonderful daily life shot, with every detail on the lady's face etched so sharply. Her hair makes a wonderful natural combination with the colour of her cardigan, and the contrast with the young men is quite poignant. A terrific shot.

This is a nice portrait of this old woman in an image of high quality. Age is experience and the look at life is not the same. It brings all kinds of soft emotions and the acquired wiseness of knowing the young ones will acquire peace and wiseness through their own life experimentation. I like this shot very much.

J'aime beaucoup la profondeur de champs choisie pour composer cette image. La photo est bien réalisé et montre une belle différence entre les ages.

Hi Dawn. I presume she must have some native blood in her. What stories she could tell, especially if she had acquired some of the oral history of her people. not only different generation, but different reality. You have juxtaposed your subject with purpose and meaning. best wishes for the coming week. Klaudio.

I love the focus on the womans face, her lines could tell a thousand stories I bet. The colour of her clothing is great as well, contrasts nicely with her white hair. Great to include the younger people, a really good people picture. Thanks for sharing.
All the best

Hi dear DAWN
Ya this is very significant and impressive portrait!
Her face is so meaningful and the best contrast with these young boys. The aged people is very serious problem in Japan too. Good documentary image too.
Thanks a lot and have a good new start of week!

You are posting an excellent photo. Smart choice of tight crop (close up) to accentuate the man with splendid sharpness, great color contrast, excellent light and very good POV choice. Nice to see the young men in BG.

These woman has an extraordinarily lovely face, this face speaks volumes, with the lovely grey hair, maybe a picture for cropping without the two boys.
Nice composition and pleasant colours
Excellent composition, TFS.

Indeed this is a generation gap, there are several decades or better generation in between them. All three look in the same direction. High sharpness and DOF. well done
BTW,the cloth - you called it camera strap, what it is not - you saw in my picture from Chiang Rai has a good reason: On my E3 I can flip out the monitor screen, so that I can stand and take pictures without going on the same low level then my photo subject - it is candid camera, what I did when I took this shot. There was a cloth hanging from above which I could not remove without being noticed.

Impressive portrait of the old lady with young guys passing by.Very nice perspective and good framing.Excellent composition, very well done, TFS.

this is a very intriguing picture. In spite of its excellent composition, depth and sharpness, it looks absolutely natural as a very vivid candid impression that may strike a passer by. The diagonal and the perspective create a distance between the subjects but also places them in a striking juxtaposition that provokes thoughts uneasy and familiar to most of us. There's an interesting detail that accentuates the decieving gap between the two parts of the composition: the spiky twigs. Colours and textures are superb. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

A very good portrait! It was surely a good idea to frame her side by side with the young boys. So many differences - clothes, colour of the hair, expressions.... Her wrinkled face tells she has probably been through a lot along her long life. A portrait to make us think. Well captured!
ikeharel (69213) 2013-04-21 2:11
Yes Dawn, she really attract you for all the good reasons.
Well taken her portrait. Watched for half an hour? you got patience.
Nice purple tone of her sweater, and her face expression shown beautifully on image.
Have a nice week ahead,

I can understand how this old lady feels, when I look at the younger generation I feel the same way but I suppose that's progress if you call it that. I like your portrait of this lady showing the lines of life. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Good placement of the subject. Well done, tfs.
abmdsudi (52431) 2013-04-28 21:58
A very conceptualistic idea of revising generations by putting them together. The intriguing sharply contrasting sides between the two; the young new ip geeks gen
and the priceless expression of the old woman's face. Their positioning within the frame and the effective viewpoint make for a really interesting capture. t's a great idea, a very important acomplishment for you. Great candid shot, with your title saying it all. Well done.
jmdias (62929) 2013-07-18 2:27
very nice portrait, the dignity of the old lady is well presented and the joy of the young men too. the thorns between them would be say something..nice job.
