Photographer’s Note

This is one of the many churches of Corrientes, a very old and important town located at the banks of Paraná river, not so far from the place where it receives the waters of Paraguay river. Corrientes has many beautiful churches and some few interesting buildings, unfortunately most of these buildings aren't in a good shape. At the north, in the other side of the river is Paraguay and, going to the west is Resistencia city.It was a very strategic place during the war between Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay against Paraguay at the end of the 19th century. In that war some important women of Corrientes (Las Cautivas) were sent how captives to Paraguay and when they come back home they visited this church to give thanks for their liberty.
