HMAS Castlemaine Australian World War 2 Minesweeper. On display at Williamstown, Melbourne. Open to the public, this veteran served with the Australian Navy during World War 2 is now a Maritime Museum.
Williamstown was originally Melbourne's first sea port, it has developed from what was a run-down industrialized centre into a popular and fashionable maritime village, featuring many historical buildings and a variety of cafes and restaurants. The suburb is surrounded on three sides by water, with the northern and eastern coastline dotted with piers, gardens and remnants of Williamstown's maritime history. Williamstown beach is located on the suburb's southern coastline and features a sweeping expanse of sand fronting calm swimming waters.
Top attractions in the area include the Williamstown Maritime Museum, located on the HMAS Castlemaine which is moored at Gem Pier. Cruises on the Yarra River and the bay depart regularly from Gem Pier, while a number of galleries can be found in Nelson Place which runs parallel to the foreshore. Williamstown hosts a number of events including the annual Williamstown Festival and a popular monthly craft market.

The colours of the sea and the sky are so well coordinated in this one that they really cast a wonderful spell. I love the wide view and the way the image has been compsoed

Well done Santo
Excellent neutral colours and sharpness especially against the more softer water, good pp work here. Excellent perspective also.
Regards
Jim

Hi Santo,
a very well produced image. The soft touches creates a very nice mood. Well composed and presented. You have made the main subject really jump out of the shot. well done

Hey Santo,

Lovely soft and subtle colors, amazing sky, and a great subject. You went from shooting trees to shooting military hardware (albeit a relic), that`s quite a leap. :=) Nevertheless, excellent work.

Best regards.

Hi Santo,
Fine image, looks more like an illustration than a photograph. Like the post work you've done to this.
Good composition and POV. Lots of wonderful detail to take in.
Cheers
Peter

Hello Santo,
the thumbnail image attracted my attention in the gallery.
A very unusual and interesting photo.. I mean, its style: colour gamma, composition, subject. It reminded me the word "steel" at once at the very first glance at it.
best regards,
Elena

Nice work !

Good morning Santo,
Amazing colours of your post.Impressive this "veteran". The water is like a mirror and the reflections on it are superb.

Ciao Santo,
when you come to Treviso you have to tell me as you have done to make this photo with these stupendous effects. It seems a painting done with the water colors. Bravissimo, you have made a masterpiece of photographic art.
Ciao
Paolo

Santo, cette photo est de très grande qualité avec les reflets de ce vétéran, le bateau lui-même et l'environnement qui le met particulièrement en valeur. C'est là où on voit la différence entre une photo simplement documentaire et une photo artistique.
Jacques

Hey Santo,

the effect is really impressive, I totally agree with one of the comments which suggest that it looks like a painting.

Excellent work.

Hi Santo,

interesting subject (even if war is always a mistake), this heavy sky adds dramatic interest.

hi Santo

I really should not forget to thank you for your kind mention in your intro page, but I am more than happy that you picked up photography and since then never turn back.

Your recent posts all prove a good point - that you have a good photography's instinct and lost little time to change your camera equipment for betterment.

I am impressed with your pp work on this shot, it really looks like a scene out of a movie. Very clean shot with great reflection. You chose a good FG clear of obstruction and aim for this low angle.

If I were to try, perhaps I would crop the sky and give more space to fit in the reflection if possible. Just my 2 cents.

A great photo again with your informative note.

tfs, bill

Hello santo. The photo convinces by its technical brilliance. Composition, colors etc. are impressing. Very beautifully. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Santo.
An excellent shot, with amazing clouds and beautiful reflections. Sky, boat and water have similar paints.
Well done.
Best regards.
Bobo.

Hi Santo,
To start with you have an excellent photo with perfect clarity on the details of this minesweeper. The FG lighting plays a role in bringing out the ship from the gloomy and blurred BG which I guess is due to your carefully crafted PP works. I really like the soft blur to the clouds and water. Fine piece of work, everytime!!

Cheers
Alfred

Hi Santo,
Lovely silver blue composition with a tranquil reflection in the riffling harbor below the stormy sky.
Great depth and fine details to this beautiful coastal scene.

Hello Santo,
Great smooth effect and really good composition! The sky is nice and dark and I like that boat.
Well done!

Hello Santo,
This ship of the navy of Australian war is captured perfectly with its gray color which is in harmony with the threatening sky. Very beautiful composition and superb reflections. A very good technical realization. Cheer.
Have a nice day and weekend.

Ciao Santo, bellissima foto da sembrare impossibile per la superficie del mare così liscia e lucida da sembrare uno specchio.
Belli anche i nuvoloni del cielo.
Bravo
Buona domenica
Mario

Hi Santo, another good shot from that cold afternoon. This one is interesting. Must admit that the sky looks a fraction too smooth for my taste. Just a bit artificial looking. Similarly the texture on the water in the BG has gone. I'd be interested to know what PP you did to acheive this. There also seems to be some jpeg artifacts on the boat's numbers and mast. cheers, Steve

Hi Santo. Great photo. Well composed. I love the smooth texture and almost BW effect you have achieved in this shot. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.

The almost monochromatic effect here, Santo, is amazing. The image is lovely and presents this vessel in such sharp and bright detail. regards kevin

Hello Santo,

Good portrait of the veteran ship!
Seems like nature was very cooperative this day, in providing light and colours to enhance the ship...
Well balanced composition with fine details, a good documentary photograph!

Greetings,
Pablo -

You had a very particular light that day despite the overcast sky as there is a translucence about the image that I find very attractive. The white ship really stands out from all that grey. If I was nit-picking I would wish you had included all the reflection, but I really like this. Well done
Kath

The water looks so peaceful and a good contrast to your subject. Very high quality image. Thanks for sharing...Alex
