Photographer’s Note
This is a shot of possibly the strangest creature we saw as we travelled the world. It's called a Weedy Sea Dragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus), only lives in Southern Australia and is a protected species. There is a monitoring program at www.dragonsearch.asn.au which anyone can register a sighting to build information about the little known species. (Of course sighting *this* one doesn't count!)
They grown to a maximum of 18 inches and are just the most beautiful creatures.
