Brunetti was the place to enjoy the Italian atmosphere in Carlton where the coffee was great and the cakes were beyond anything Melbournians were used to. That was in Faraday Street. Brunetti has moved location to a much bigger area and it is still hard to find a seat. Nevertheless the place is alive with happy people and it looks grand and so Italian. I shall add a little profile from a site that looks at winter delights(melbourne.concreteplayground.com.au)- Brunetti being one such place.
"So Brunetti has moved home. What does this mean? Well, it means that it has moved house from Faraday Street in Carlton to the Lygon Street centre, where Borders once used to stand. Before Borders, however, Brunetti started its journey in this exact same location in 1974. With five other locations now across Melbourne, Brunetti is showing no sign of wavering.
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, to say the place is filled to the brim would be an understatement. People are searching left and right for a table and the staff are working in overdrive. This, surprisingly, isn't helped by the four or five sections to the venue. A word to the wise, food comes to your table and drinks are collected from the bar. The space is no doubt beautiful. The drinks counter in the centre is a large round bar with hanging lights, while wine barrels cut and hung on the wall make for interesting dining companions.
When it comes to the food, you can rest assured all the regulars are there in the cake department. Walls of glass cabinets filled with sweet treats will make you want to skip lunch and head straight to dessert. Lemon tarts, Opera slice, ricotta cannolis, oh my. Good luck choosing just one indulgence.
What is a little different is the vast a la carte menu. For something simple you can go for the torchietti alla napoletana with tomato, basil and extra virgin olive oil ($19.50) or for a classic try the linguini alle vongole with clams, white wine and garlic. Pizzas range from traditional with the Margherita (tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and oregano, $17.40) to the fried with the Di Matteo (salami, broccoli, ricotta and chilli, $20).
If you're sticking to the savoury options, we suggest heading to the al la carte menu, rather than the readymade meals, as you are bound to get a fresher, more flavoursome meal if it's being make to order. We also recommend heading in on a quieter night. The sheer size of the place (400 seater) runs the risk of losing that Brunetti charm when it is packed out."
I borrowed my brother-in-law's camera to take this photo and I shall include a couple of his photos to give you some idea of the atmosphere at Brunettis.

Hello Daddo, Haha! Smile:) Nothing works so good as a smile. Nice lady, nice place and good atmosphere apparently. Good note also well worth of a tourist guide or a brochure. Recently I've met a couple from Melbourne, originating from ex YU, who moved to Australia, at the beginning of 70s. Nice people. They told me many interesting things about Melbourne and life there. Regards,Petar.

kao da sam tamo, i mislim da joj c/b baš stoji. A ako ikada stignem do Melburna - potražiću Brunetti! Znam šta znači imati mesto sa dobrom italijanskom kafom kada si daleko od ovih krajeva!
Usput - koliko su ti platili za ovakvu sjajnu reklamu?
Bar nekoliko kafa gratis?

Looks like a wonderful place to have a meal and your note makes me hungry! The smile on the waitress' face is priceless. The real people together with the ones in the photo on the wall create a timeless atmosphere.
With the workshop shots it's a lovely series.

The atmosphere is very Italian. I like the big picture in the background.
I once had a cup of cappuccino near the Pantheon in Rome. There was no a single chair there. People were drinking espresso standing at the counter.

Hello Klaudio - This is a wonderful B&W shot. The connection you have made with the waitress is delightful, she seems bright and sunny and more than happy to be the FP in your composition. I like the way she is apart and yet still blends in with the décor of the Italian coffee shop.
Really good work

Ciao caro Klaudio
Che bello sorriso! A delightful young woman, who is quite clearly working it for your camera. This is such a beautiful scene, and the B&W makes it reminiscent of the wonderful café photos of the 1950s. It reminds me of the era my Dad came to Australia (to Melbourne) in during those years. Brunetti is iconic, so it's only fitting that you exhibit as part of your cosmopolitan, vibrant city. I was last here with Santo, and the year before that, with Santo and his lovely wife, where we made our best attempts to "do the menu". A danger for the diet, but a beautiful step back in time, to a kinder, classier era. Thanks for sharing.

My friend Klaudio in my gallery of images from Gilan Province (Masouleh) there, that you can visit them. I'd be happy to meet you in my home town of Gorgan.
