Photographer’s Note
Magnetic Island is 5km offshore from the north Queeensland city of Townsville. It was named by Captain James Cook in 1770, as he sailed past in his ship the Endeavour, thinking the island rocks were somehow interfering with his compass.
There are 2 people walking on the beach.

HI Chris,
Beautiful beach view as we can expect from you, another slide or negative that manages the trip through time extremely well ! I like the overlooking PoV, the very good sharpness and the great colors, plus the two tiny human beings giving the scale. I visited that island in 1994, but weather was bad and I did not get results that good.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

A splendid view of this beach Chris. Another impressive POV. I like the small portion of sky. The two people walking give much scale to the scene. That blue to green shade is wonderful.

Very well done.
Amitiés.

Another classic ChrisJ seascape. Nice framing and gooduse of the lines of the bay through it. Slightly irritating parts of trees in the foreground, I think I'd have preferred either more or less.

Another pleasant beach scene, Chris, with a nice curving shoreline in the foreground leading the view towards the textural details of the rocks. Very nice how the sunlight enhances the turquoise hues in the water. Good to have the folks on the beach included for scale.

I think that you must have a helicopter at your disposal Chris. You often have these great shots with such an impressive point of view. The colors seems very "true" to life.
A very beautiful place well photographed.

Chris, Thank you for briefing about the naming history, or my explanation would be that the beauty of the island attract people here like magnetic.
What a relax place. Beautiful shot.

Sawasdee Krub Chris,
Beatiful seascape picture. The picture would have been an imbalance one if you had not included the mountan at the far right. My minor critique is the small tree on the left a little bit distracting.

The small size of the people on the beach is surprizing, and this means that this beach is wider and bigger than it looks without them. THe colors of the water are really "magnetic" as well. Beautiful landscape shot, Chris.

Bonsoir Chris,
Une bien jolie baie avec une plage (presque) déserte. Mais c'est vrai que c'est toi juillet c'est le plein hiver !
J'aime la couleur de la mer, la profondeur de l'image qui permet de voir les îles au loin.
Bien vu !

Hi Chris - beautiful place, stunning colours in the water and the comma shape curve of the beach looks great, while the people add perspective. This place will definitely be on my itinerary next month, I wonder how much has changed in 13 years.

Hi Chris, wow talk about dejavu. I visited Magnetic Island in the 1980'2 as well, stayed at the Youth Hostel there for a few days.
It has always stuck in my mind that the rocks there are unique, unlike anything I seen before or since anywhere else.
Great photo, stood the test of time well.
