Train of Kuranda Scenic Railway arrives at Kuranda after a long climb from Cairns. Despite difficult terrain construction of the railway begun already in 1882. The target was to connect Atherton Tablelands to Cairns. The railway was completed as far as Kuranda in 1891.
Currently Queensland Rail operates two daily trains to Kuranda. They both leave Cairns in the morning and return in the afternoon.

For a scenic railway, it doesn't look to sophisticated I must say. But as long as the two locomotives are doing their job, I could imagine that this must be a great train journey indeed.

Superb perspective that gives this picture with long train, which seems a bit of the past, but that seems a model of great power.
Well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.

Une photo très intéressante et parfaitement composée. J'aime beaucoup le train qui se perd au tournant. Bel éclairage malgré un temps brumeux et bon rendu des couleurs de l'engin.
Tous mes compliments et bonne fin de semaine,

I did visit thar area of Queensland in October 2004. The length of the train is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the train. Have a nie day.

A train, how unusual for your to choose this as a subject ;) The vivid colours are very compelling, as are the curves which make the image seem three-dimensional and as if the train is coming straight for us. You did really well in that diffused light. I know you don't like white skies, but sometimes you've just gotta work with what you have - and you did so really well here. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day.
I'm waiting impatiently for your Sydney shots....
