A scene at The Chasm, a spot on the road to Milford Sound. A short walk takes you through the rainforest and across a deep chasm through which a small river flows. The main features here are tree ferns in the foreground and beech trees of the genus Nothofagus in the background. This area gets 6 metres of rain each year, so most days are cloudy and rainy. But the cloudy days are the best for photography in the forest, with less contrast between dark and bright.

As I gaze at this image of the lush vegetation, I cannot help but think that a strange creature from the Jurassic Period will suddenly appear from the mist. Beautifully framed shot with spectacular sharpness.

Hi Vincent. How green can it get! Beautiful trees- give me these any days over the gumtrees that always look untidy and suffering.I felt much more at home in N.Z. thanks to its deciduous trees and green mountain slopes. Excellent exposure reveals so much detail. Regards. Klaudio.

Your picture brings back many memories of good times and Tree Ferns.
A superbly composed picture and lovely shades of green.
Best Wishes from a soggy wet Devon.

For a European such big ferns look very special as there's nothing like that around here. Well framed shot showing clearly the lush green environment of that place. Dark tree trunks add nice contrast. Excellent result, it is not easy to capture interesting shots off all green subject.
