Chinese New Year is celebrated by many people in Australia, and not just the 700,000 ethnic Chinese who call Australia home. The Chinese have been in Australia since the 1840's when the gold rush first came.
The festivities move across the Chinatowns and Chinese suburbs throughout the country. Here in Brisbane, the main celebration happened in Chinatown in Fortitude Valley and in Sunnybank as well, another area witha large population of Chinese.
Here we see an artist paint characters on a paper lantern at Sunnybank. The colour, sounds and smells of Chinese new year are fantastic and celebrate just one of Australia's many ethnic communties.

Hi Justin. I think is THE EYE that does it, giving the image a riveting point of interest. Then we look at the actual activity. I like the pause, the suspended moment/brush. Nice work. Best wishes. Klaudio.

Powerful eye, high "intensity"...vivid colors, an interesting moment well captured by you.
Hasta luego amigo!

Nice candid of a pretty girl! Good rich tones, as befits the occasion, and the glance away from her work hasn't stopped the brush moving. I may have tried to crop the shoulder and part-torso off to the right, but what do I know?

very good picture…you managed to capture a dicisive moment..the beautiful face of the girl..in that excact position, the hair in front of one eye, her consatrution on the paint…this feeling on her face is the point of the photo…of course your focus is managed very well as the balance of the picture..well done!

A superb daily life scene from Brisvegas with a nice diffused light & excellent color & saturation. Good sharpness & nice repetition of the colorful lanterns & their circular shapes. The woman's shoulder at right doesn't bother me. Her presence lets us know there are many people in the room working towards a common goal. Tfs!
