Photographer’s Note
The Melbourne Shot Tower formed part of a factory in which shot gun pellets were made. The shot was formed into tiny spheres by dropping them (inside the tower) from a great height. They cooled and solidified as they fell.
The tower is in the central business district on prime real estate - so they built a shopping centre around it. The shot tower is now protected from the elements under a giant glass cone.
