Photographer's Note
Photo of the blue river, few kilometre away of Luganville. The color of this river is amazingly blue. I've never seen such a color for a river before.
There is a little cruise with a pirogue you can make which will bring you right at the end of the river. There is a blue hole over there and you can have a little swmin. Be careful of mosquitos though!
Definitely something worthing to do while you are on Espiritu Santo island.
The day I took that photo, the sky was also blue but somehow I could not manage to make it blue on the picture. the sun was behind me though. Too many shade, I don't know. Any advise for next time?

I love the colors, and now I have another thing to add to my must-see list when I visit Vanuatu later this summer.
Regarding the blown highlights in the sky, it depends on the kind of camera you use. If you have an SLR, consider getting a circular polarizing filter, which will lower the exposure by a couple of stops. Alternatively, you can get a graduated neutral density (GND) filter to lower the exposure of just a part of the photo. If you don't want to invest in the rather expensive GND filters, just shoot in raw and apply a digital GND during post processing.
