Port Vila local food market, open 24 hours a day.
The best place in town to head for a laplap or a tuluk and to find th elocal products such as Manioc, Taro, Yam, wild raspberries, Navel nuts, Mele freshwater prawns or mud crabs.

Selling at the market is a family affair, very much a social place and a delightful place to wander, especially if you can speak bislama. Fortunately, I am a son of the country, even forgotten, so I do.

I have returned to Vanuatu after almost a 30 years absence and I was very much shocked with the way some of the recent foreign people holding pretty much of all the businesses are leading the country to almost a South African apartheid like situation.

30th july, day of the celebration of independance, I can witness except me and so few french people, their was no whiteskin out in the celebration grounds. Though it takes so little words in bislama, before a nivan calls you prata, brother.

Shame on you, people from Brisbane or Sydney, raising high fences around cheaply bought real estate. You'd better realize that living in a foreign country, drinking in your exclusive bars will not prevent you from facing the real life of Vanuatu.
