Photographer’s Note
This is probably the last of my series on Vanuatu (just not enough good photos). We drove around the island of Efate in a battered old Mazda 121 (It's there in the photo). On the other side of the island of Port Vila (east coast) we came across a deserted beach with this sculptural ruin of a tree. It reminds me of the current Sculpture by the Sea display along the coast in Sydney which is on at the moment (I may have a posting from it next week).
This is a scan of a negative but, in this case, without a lot of processing - mainly just cleaning up dust, with a little cropping to cut trim the sand.

Hi Ian, good spotting of your unusual subject. I like the symmetry created by the palm trees in the BG too and of course that wonderful blue, blue sky. Great job, TFS and enjoy your weekend, Lisa.

Hi Ian.
Funny to see photos from these unknown countries. Nice blue colour on the sky and a nice place. The sculpture is a good thing to capture. TFS.
Regards, Fredrik.

Hi Ian.
I think I went to Vanuatu about 25 years ago - I remember the good food.
Incredible colours and great control of the exposure - so much white sand and even the boughs of the 'sculpture' could have been over-exposed. I think you composed this well, and I quite like the bloke and the car in the background. Must have been taken before you got your first digital camera. Good scan.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Ian,
I think this sculpture would have been a much more deserving recipient of the $60,000.00 prize rather than that bloody great piece of rock that carried away the top spot.
Pretty good quality shot, you've got the blues performing well here, nicely isolated from the palm trees as well, I can't detect any bleed at all.
It's fun to explore isn't it, I know my most memorable trips have always been well off the beaten track in somewhat beaten up vehicles.
Have a good sunday.
Cheers
Peter

Hi Ian, This is a place not often seen on TE as far as i recall. The palms against the great deep blue sky are wonderful. It would be good to see the sea as a workshop too. TFS. Murray.
