Photographer's Note

After a few months in the South Pacific, it was time to leave this area, as the cyclone season was about to begin.

Our last stop was in Tonga, on the main island of Tongatapu. The main city of Nuku Alofa is where the King and his family live.

At this time the old king was still alive and lived in an old mansion, dating of the last century.

It was a beautiful island, with very little tourism. Traffic was also very quiet, so we toured with our folding bicycles all around the island.

One of the many stops we did, was at the Blow Holes. It is a rock formation, where the sea has made many holes over the years. When the waves hit these holes it creates a booming sound and the water jets out as if it was a geyser.

The old Sony point and shoot was certainly not the ideal camera for this kind of photography, as the timing was difficult to get with a slow reacting camera, but at least this one gives an idea...
