Photographer’s Note
Another of my postings from Papua New Guinea in the 1970s. I've previously posted photos from the the Sing Sing (festival) to celebrate PNG getting self government.
This photo shows the leader of a dance group doing final preparations - (preening?) for a performance. He was leading the group on the right.
The big feature of his spectacular plumage was a magnificent collection of Bird of Paradise feathers - one of the worlds most spectacular birds that do quite amazing mating dances.
Scanned from a slide with masses of deletion of dust spots on the sky.
