Photographer’s Note
In Papua New Guinea there are still active cannibals. Cannibalism is not in search of food but as a ritual act against their enemies. Tree houses like this one (but deep in the forest) are a refuge from enemies.

I might have passed this by except for your title, which drew me in. A fascinating subject. Having read something of the cannibal life there, which is short, spare and filled with so much fear, I am touched to see the houses in the trees -- the only places of refuge. This is a photo which evokes so much emotion and without even a human face, this is a wonderful achievement.
More notes on how you got to this spot, who you met there, anything on the current life of these people would be so helpful.
