[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We took this "banana boat" out of the mouth of the Ramu River, across the surf for an hour, and into the mouth of the mighty Sepik river. This was the son of our river guide - the background gives a sense of how wide the Sepik river really is. I decided to go with B&W for the fist time for this photo (although it was orignally in colour). Does it work in B&W?

This is a pretty cool shot. I think b&w was the right choice, but you are missing contrast IMO. Overall, I think the shot is at least a stop overexposed. IF you shot RAW, maybe you can dial it back? I am thinking his skin should be darker and the shot it pretty brightly balanced overall. I like how you have him positioned close to the front end of the boat.
