Photographer’s Note
Taken across the bay from Rabaul. I was unable to get to Rabaul itself due to roads being washed out by heavy rains. The town and volcano are to the left out of frame.
It was sad to see how much the town had deteriorated due to the eruption.
Rabaul also brought back some unhappy memories; nearby were the graves of some of my geologist friends killed in a number of plane and helecopter crashes.

Hi Malcolm!
I like the framing and colour in this picture. The silhouettes on the front and back of the boat make up a successful composition. As for the color - only blue and black featuring only one colour accent - the boat. IMO very successful shot.

A great shot Malcolm,
perfect colour, good composition and no sing of any volcanic activity - one of my favourite spots in PNG although I haven't been there since 1972!
The silhouettes work really well.
Regards
Ian

Hello Malcolm
The 2 fishermen are well silhouetted. A nice composition. Well done, Marlene
