Photographer’s Note
Can you count the Kitesurfers on Orewa Beach?
We’ve had wet weekends in Auckland for the last 9 weeks, and today’s forecast was for fine sunny weather – but what happened?
I don’t know, but as you can see in this photo the wind is up and it had rained at least half of the day. . . We ended up with 15° C and the easterly winds made it feel even colder.
One good thing about the wind was that it brought the Kitesurfers and Windsurfers out in droves. As the wind blew across the coastline, more kitesurfers were seen at Orewa Beach, known to be a favourite beach for them.
Orewa Beach is 3 km long and is situated about thirty miles north of Auckland City, New Zealand. It is the longest beach in Auckland. The sandy shores are extremely safe as the only sign of any real danger is the kitesurfers and their long ropes that may get tangled. Usually these outdoor enthusiasts stay farther out on the water's edge where the winds can be stronger.
But today they were closer to shore as the wind and waves suited them best.
The photo isn't too good - I had trouble focusing - everything kept moving. . . But enjoy!
I've added a workshop.

Hi Janice,
I like the nice contrast between the colours of the kites and the grey sky. The composition is full of dynamic. And your POV is excellent. TfS!
Warm regards

Hi Janice,
impressive view, bith for the number of kitesurfers and for the powerful sea. I's a pity it seems a little too dark.

Hallo Janice!
What a "pattern" in the sea, what a wonderful atmosphere! A very impressive scenery - probably also because of this weather. Have you taken this while hanging under a flex-wing ? ;-)
Have a nice weekend! Greetings from already autumnal Germany!
Frank
