Photographer’s Note
Picton is a pretty port at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound .
Picton is not just the marine gateway to the South Island, but the best base from which to explore the Marlborough Sounds.
Picton is a small town that is a hive of activity when the ferry docks and during the peak of summer, but slow and sleepy any other time. The town is built around an enclosed harbour and deep-water port .
Unfortunately we only had time for a lunch break at this idyllic place.

Hello Dorte,
The vegetation works nicely to frame the view to this maritime environment!
Nothing better than going sailing on a day like this, when sun is shining and a pleasant breeze playing with the sails...
Good sense of depth in this well balanced composition, fine details!

Hello Dorte,
A very pretty composition of this little harbour. I like the point of view and the shadow contrasts offered by the tree. The people about to launch their boat add a nice touch of vitality to the scene. Excellent colours and clarity.

Hallo Dorte!
This must be a wonderful place. The sight really is gorgeous. I like the look through with these branches here - and the truly relaxed atmosphere. I would like to sit there now ... ;-)
Greetings from warm and sticky Germany!

G'day Dorte!
I remember this place well: like you, I didn't get enough time when I was there to really enjoy the place - so I'll just have to revisit!! Did you try kayaking whilst in NZ?
Thanks for sharing,
Best wishes - Jeff

Hej Dorte,
A very nice and well balanced landscape. The marina is well placed on the right with space on the left hand side for a wide view over the water. The light was fine too and well handled. You made also good use of the overhanging trees. Good photo work!

Another fine landscape of NZ Dorte. Good use compowise of the foreground branch and shadow to have a kind of natural framing.

Hi Dorte.
You did a very good job of this photo taken with strong light ahead of you. The composition is really pleasing, looking over the pattern of tiles, past the people and the jetty, towards those distant mountains. The leaves and shadow make a good frame for the scene. I have been to NZ twice, more recently about 4 years ago, but did not visit Picton. Your photo makes me think that next time I go to NZ I should stop there.
Regards,
Andrew
