Queenstown, in the Lakes District of the South Island of New Zealand, is situated on an inlet of Lake Wakatipu. There is a beautiful walk along the lake edge which we did late in the day when the colours in this beautiful were particularly striking.
With a length of 80 kilometres, it is NZ's longest lake and is very deep with a depth of up to 100 meters below sealevel. It is surrounded by mountains, including the Remarkables seen in the distance, and is renowned for its scenic beauty. Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of NZ and is a popular base for skiers in winter. |
