Photographer’s Note
Hi all.
This shot was taken the morning after my “Moonlit scene” post while on my way home. This is mount Ngauruhoe in the Tongariro National park.
I waited about 10 or 15 minutes for the mountain to show itself and while I was waiting another photographer stopped and waited also. She busied herself photographing the immediate scenery while she waited but in the end could wait no longer (impatient partner in the car I think) and left, about 2 minutes later the mountain revealed itself and I got this shot.
In workshop a photo of the other photographer.
Enjoy,
Paul.

I was not lucky at all when a few years ago I travelled from Taupo to Wellington and could not have a glance of the volcanos. I even drove up to the big resort at the base of the mountain but arriving there is was really bad with fog and even snow.
But with your picture I can have an idea of the beauty of the place. Many thanks for that.

Oh, my, Paul,
I can't even imagine a scene like this, much less have the great good fortune to witness and photograph it. I love those greens and golds in the FG and the way the land stretches so far into the shot. That mountain though, partially hidden by those clouds is just awesome. Man. Well done! Many thanks and warm regards,
Shelly

nice light at the foreground but most of the canvas has a vacant feel which could have been taken care
anyway all the best wishes for the future shots

Quite a scenery, Paul. Warm colors in the foreground contrast well with the thick fog. Is that a volcano? Regards,

Hello Paul,
This is a breathtaking view. The mountain look very high covered under the morning clouds. Interesting scenery with the wide plains ahead of the mountain. I'm not sure if there are foothills making a transition to big mountains in NZ as we have in the Canadian Rockies. The view is beautiful. Thanks Paul.

WOW! This is a beauty! I love how the mountain is peeking over the fog, and the lighting and color in the foreground is excellent. TFS

Hello Paul,
You capture the special morning atmosphere well, as the rising sun is chasing the fog away!
I think I can see some beginning autumn colours in the vegetation?
Ngauruhoe seems to be a quite "young" volcano as it appears like no vegetation has got hold yet...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Paul,
fine layering and the mountain is to high to be hidden, despite the serious work the cloud is performing.

Bonjour Paul,
Bien amicalement.
Daniel.

Hello Paul,
You caught an excellent result after your patient. The contrasts between yellow/green valley and gray mountain is superb but the clouds below the hill and its wonderful head is creates magnificent one. Congratulations.

Hi Paul, I like both shots. The workshop is interesting with the different levels of fog, and the distance scale is interesting, comparing the photographer with the hydro towers.
This shot is a classic with the mountain "girdled" by the cloud. I like how we can see the top and bottom, but the mid section is totally obscured. Colour is good, and I find it interesting how it changes in the transition with depth within the shot. Very nicely done.
Thanks, John

Hi Paul,
well paid patience by this wonderful view. The great clarity in the beginning makes the effect even stronger in my eyes. The belt of clouds is like keeping the mountain together.

Hi Paul,
You have caught a scene that takes a great effect as this mist that hides to the mountain and only it allows us to see its summit, in the middle of a wild landscape and with a good graphism.
Great light and beautiful colors, in a good work.

Hello Paul,Beautiful tones in the FG, the tip of the mountain showing through the fog was well worth the wait. Well done. I think shot is more interesting that the one with the impatient photographer.
Thanks
Santo.
PS I saw your shot of the magpie a while ago, i have two that often sit on a power pole in front of my place and often look at them and think of your shot , I want one like yours.

hello Paul
Excellent shot to have this view and colorful contrast. The effective exposure showing the nice texture of FG grass, the thin veil of covering up the mountains, exposing only the peak.
well done

Hi Paul, NZ moutains so often have a shroud of cloud. A very typical and attractive view. We went tramping and skiing around here in the high school days- memories! Good presentation .Murray.

Hello Paul
This reminds me of Mt. Batur in Bali...covered with the clouds, & I waited for over an hour. I like the view as the volcano just about peering over the clouds & I like the bright FG grass as well with the contrast it provides. Good work!

Hi paul,
Your 'Afternoo Shadows' note drew me here; the title was so entrancing. The photo is equally entrancing with surprising detail of the mountain showing through the mist. The golden light in the FG is the perfect foil for the dark clouds. Just lovely, HLJ, Pat
