Hello Renier,
Kites are an excellent hobby if you live in windy areas. The shape of this kite is very interesting and appropriate for a beach. Nice black and white rendering and well composed image. Thanks Renier.

I'd like to be, under the sea, in an octopus's garden, in the shade!
Not quite under the sea here Renier, but close enough to it on this beautiful Christchurch beach. I like that if you look hard enough you are rewarded by a glimpse of some people in the grass which are not easy to see at first glance. The sky looks wonderful, and the B&W has helped to promote that swirling of cloud more than if it were colour I believe. There is an annual kite festival not far from here, perhaps I should go next time with my camera. Thanks for this post!

Bonjour Renier
Un superbe cliché. Le noir et blanc lui va à merveille et renforce l'impression d'étrange avec cet octopus qui semble voler dans les airs.
Bravo - merci pour le partage et bon dimanche.

Hi Renier
Lol at the title! Good sharpness, tonal rane & contrast, in this superb b&w image. Perhaps I'd tweak contrast slightly upwards? I like the repetition & depth added to the scene, by the fg vegetation. Tfs!

Hello Renier.
A very unusual, somewhat mysterious looking shot. Very inventive to make this b/w, but it succeeds in creating drama. The foreground grasses are beautifully sharp, and almost conceal the kite flyer (I presume that's who he is). Magnificent moody sky and well placed bird really finish this off well. The octopus-like kite is quite an eery presence in the sky. Contrast is well done, creating very pleasing tones.

Andrew

Hola Renier...:
Nice image with B/W, before opening the photo, was not dealing: an octopus flying?, later I understood ... it is one commit, the truth is that it is a composition that surprises, I like.
Congratulations and see you soon.
Un saludo.

You have seized the opportunity in a very nice photograph, Renier. Composition is excellent. Could consider cloning the bird to avoid distraction as it is too small anyway. I like the B&W rendition but would be interested to see it in color, too. Regards,

Hi Renier,
Very scary looking b&w composition. Looks like a 1950s Si-Fi thriller the monster descending on the unsuspecting tourist as they innocently enjoy their picnic. How diabolic of you! Wonderful sky with great details and clarity.

The B&W is working well for this compo, which has a special luminosity. Good capture of the kite with its flying tentacles and the clouds adding more atmosphere to the scene.

Hello Renier
Very good title indeed! The tonal range in this B&W post is very good, though I feel a small boost in contrast could have been done. Excellent from your low POV, I really like how you composed this shot. Very nice work indeed!

Hello Renier,
What a cool shot! So disconcerting. When I first saw it in the thumbnail it looked like an underwater scene. Great treatment in black and white, with beautiful clouds all playing their part to highlight this unique kite. The POV really makes this shot, relatively low to the ground and creating an effect of tall grasses in the immediate foreground. Everything seems to be moving or swaying in the wind here.
Great work!

Hi Renier,
I'm not a big B&W fan though I have a couple in my gallery, but I like this image of yours. The background is mean and moody whilst the foreground is calm and peaceful, also very sharp. I like low pov and the octopus placed in the centre of the frame and is that a bird further in or another kite? Hard to tell but it looks great anyway. It's a fine shot and well seen.
Happy Easter Sunday,
Stephen

Great POV, a creative photo with the tiny children lost in the immensity of a field : all the fantasies of childhood, I like a lot those last photos (the one of the Maori is even more amazing IMHO !)

Totally mysterious and poetic. I like that crop that makes us forget it's a kite. Another kind of UFO : Unidentified Flying Octopus !!! And the B&W enhances that special atmsophere. Really excellent.

Great shot, the black and white is perfect. It's a dark picture of a happy event... and it's ok to sometimes show things as they are not. I'll put it in my favorites.
