Photographer’s Note
Lake Pukaki, South Island, New Zealand
Sometime in 2007, I had a chance to look at my friend's NZ pics... I saw this greenish lake with magnificant color, I knew straightaway that I needed to visit this magical place!! It was called Lake Pukaki. It had then been sitting on my must-visit itinerary. Then.....I had the opportunity to travel for a few days in South Island with my friend last July, I was so excited, I told my friend ...ARGHHHH we had to go to Lake Pukaki!!
When we arrived there, it was just like how I expected it to be. A M A Z I N G! Wow Wow Wow. It is such a beautiful calm lake, with the snowy mountains in the background. I don't know what more we could ask for!
When we were there, the sun was right above the lake. It was midday-ish. So i felt like it was a bit too bright to take the picture, but we had to keep going..so that was the best shot I could get out of it.
Hope you like it!
cheers,
Jellianne :)
P.S. you can find more info about Lake Pukaki here

Hello Jellianne,
Both times I have been to Lake Pukaki were cloudy, but I am very sure I will come back to NZ someday. The milky blue is said to be the result of powdered rock suspended in the water from near by Tasman Glacier. The heavy suspension refracts the light in this interesting way. It looks impressive from satellite shots, and contrasts with the clear lakes around it. Beautiful image, it really is. I have never seen so much snow as this in NZ, as in September and January it was restricted to the upper slopes mostly. Gosh, how I'd love to re-revisit.

Hi Jellianne,
What a wonderful view of a rugged, but beautiful landscape. The panaramic format allows us to take in the full surroundings, and the blue and grey tones across the photo make for a very good result. The air seems so clean and fresh and the clarity and colours superb. Well done.
Cheers Grant

Hi Jellianne,
such a beautiful capture. Amazing atmosphere, gorgeus light through whole image with excellent chosen POV of land embracing the most blue surface lake I've ever seen. Excellent. TFS!
Kind regards,
Jeri

Hi Jellianne, it looks like an amazing but also a freezing place :) The contrast between the black round-shaped stones, blue colour of the calm lake and the snowy mountains is really great. Regards to Australia, Tolga

Hi Jellianne,
You've captured this beautiful lake well with its calm turquoise waters ... you were in luck actually because it is windy here most of the time. I'm glad the weather was in your favour to allow you to enjoy the scenery. Well composed with good image/color quality. Well done! tfs

Hi Jellianne,
Nice shot with a good composition! I like the blue color, but I think that some parts are too dark. Maybe you could have changed this in PS or something. But it's well captured!

Hi Jellianne, The composition is excellent with rocks in the foreground to add interest and scale of the lake. The blues of the water and the sky is what i especially like about this. Glorious part of the world. TFS. Murray.
