Jubilee Clock Photo

Photographer’s Note

A Jubilee Clock is a term used in reference to a number of clocks constructed and erected throughout the British Empire in commemoration of the Golden or Diamond Jubilee of various British monarchy.

This is Christchurch's Diamond Jubilee Clock Tower built to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is made of volcanic stone and limestone with ornate wrought iron work with coloured glass around part of the tower with four faces. The tower also has two white marble plaques and one bronze plaque set on stone work above arches.

Beautiful details and elegant architecture. The placement and angle of the clock tower make the image more dynamic. Good exposure and coour saturation to compose the image. Sharpness is also excellent and the verall view of this tower is excellent. Thanks Renier.

clock tower of Pisa? The architecture is very interesting and you captureed the details very good. The diagonal composition gives additional attraction and helps with that white area of the sky.

A good POV and diagonal framing of this Jubilee clock tower.. fine sharpness of details, and reasonable colors due to difficult light, that also resulted in burning the lower left side...

Quite a clock and quite a perspective, Renier. It almost makes one dizzy to look at :) Seriously, good choice of POV and good way to show your subject. Exposure looks tough on the left, but you've kept your detail reasonably sharp, especially in the clock area. Not a bad idea to show it this way when it could have been tougher to do had you tried to show more of the building.

Original viewpoint Renier. It's surprising how the sky on each side is completely different as if you intended that by composing this way. The ornate architecture shows up well.
