Paris Hilton Makes the News

Saturday June 9th 2007 was Auckland's Photo Day, a 24 hour time zone when anyone can take photos within the Auckland area and submit 3 of them into a competition.

So a couple of TrekLens friends and I wandered around Queen Street. It was a fun day, we came home exhausted after about 8 hours of photography... taking photos of all sorts of things in the City,

This was one of the first pictures I took that day – it shows the local NZ Herald newspaper seller and the main topic of interest that morning was the liberation of Paris Hilton from jail – but, as we found out late that day – it was a short-lived liberation.

Hello Janice,

At a very quick glance I was convinced that the thumbnail was of the city of Paris. Now that would have been news worthy, but indeed not this. I may seem harsh but I find this person a joke and not worth any sort of global attention. Great shot, it shows me how dense and shallow the media, and indeed the readers of the world have become. There is so much more to report, on war, exploration, research and climate change than to worry about a spoilt individual. Great work Janice.

HI Janice,
I like the shot. The big yellow umbrella... etc... Can't stand the woman but the photos great... What a world we live in to get such a trivial piece of news as the major headlines.
Nice pic

Hi Janice,
Its been sometime since I've seen your posting ... good to hear from you. From the title I taught there was a revolution in Paris :) Interesting POV as it makes the viewer ponder on what the composition is all about. Well captured and good image quality. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hi Dear Friend
How are you?

Interesting daily life shot here, great colors and interesting note
regards

Hi Janice,
Good triangular composition showing spots of colour on a grey day. I see some controversy between 'start smarter' and reading about Paris Hilton. Nice to see the free bus on bg.

Hallo Janice!
A beautiful photo with a nice note. The colours here are really great. Your picture shows in an impressive way, what today is important ... but I like that all people show their back to this heartbraking news. The news is as important as the knocking of a shutter somewhere in the world ... ;-)
Greetings from very thundery and rainy Germany!
