Photographer’s Note

I took this shot in the same pond as my previous posting. I was facing away from the sun when I took this shot, thus a much balance exposure. I hope you like this POV on winter.

Amazing what fascinating subjects leaves can make. The ones here make a very pleasing pattern and come in a variety of hues. The reflections of the trees add much to the appeal of the overall image. Good tones and clarity.

I thought this must be Thailand at first glance. but then I saw those autumnal colours and that soft, temperate climate light. It is interesting how the reflection imposes a form - a composition- on the image, pulling the whole thing together. regards kevin

Well chosen vertical framing adding depth. Nice mix of floating leaves and tree reflections, very colorful,good sharpness and contrast... maybe crop the top wae another solution..

Firstly thanks for your kind comments to by photo, and secondly I think this is an absolutely brilliant image. The compo, lighting and colours are perfect. The image has a surreal look to itm as if the water is parting. Where the reflection of the tree falls on the water, I seems like I'm looking into the river mud....fantastic shot.

The autumnal atmosphere is well conveyed in your compo and the reflections of the trees and leaves creating a nice pattern on the surface of the water give a beautiful visual effect. The saturated colors look good too.

A beautiful shot and well taken although the so slightest rotation and crop near the top would really improve an already superb image. Might only be .5 of a degree and the upper most bit of the bank

Hello Renier,

This is a very artistic representation of South Island nature!
Wonderful colour palette and the combination of reflection and reality works very well...
I like the composition, maybe you'd be better off without the 3-4 mm on top but no big issue!
