[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last weekend I was walking along the cliff at Narrow Neck beach. Narrow Neck is a suburb of the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand.

In the distance you can see a very dry looking island – that is Motukorea, now known as Browns Island. It is a small volcanic island lying in the Hauraki Gulf, 1300 metres offshore from Auckland's eastern suburbs, which you can see on the right.

Motukorea was formed by a series of volcanic eruptions, all visible in today's landscape, and last occurring about 20,000 years ago. The first explosions formed a large tuff (volcanic ash and grit) ring, a remnant of which survives as the island's high eastern ground. Extensive lava flows formed lava fields and built up a cluster of small cones, the largest of which forms Motukorea's distinctive main cone and crater, 68 metres high.

Volcanoes are a conspicuous feature of the Auckland city landscape. Within a radius of about 20km centred on Auckland city there are 48 volcanoes; this is the area referred to as the Auckland volcanic field .

As you can see, the Hauraki Gulf is very popular for yachting in Auckland.

HalloJanice!
This photo gives an impression of wideness and summer sunlight. In combination with your instructive note it's an interesting photo. Let's hope that the volcano will go on sleeping. 20.000 years in history of our planet is less than a second ...
Greetings from springlike Germany - and have a nice sunday!
Frank

Hi Janice,

Reserving more space on spectacularly colored sea surface is clever idea. Silhouettes of lands, white prints of boat foams and sails are making your frame rich with cloudy sky. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

Ertugrul

Hi Janice!
Very well taken and composed scenery from Hauraki Gulf. Very beautiful colour of the water contrasting nicely with the sky. Very well done. Thanks for the note

Hi again Janice,
I like this shot. It's pleasantly simple and nicely balanced in its composition yet the scene itself is quite busy. Technically, it seems to be near perfect. Light, colours, contrast, and detail all look spot on.
Excellent work.

Hugs,
Tony

Hi Janice,
Yes, it is very popular place for yachting. Nice picture showing us panorama nearby Auckland city, nice to see so many boats and yachts all around this area. I like also how you framed this view with the tree on the right. NIce colors and thank you for the recreation, vacation atmoshere on this picture.
With BEST Regards,
Arthur

Hi Janice. All those volcano’s and an earthquake swarm to get the nerves jangling also. Looks a bit crowded out on the harbour but it is good to know people are out enjoying what’s on their doorstep. Well composed but a perhaps a touch of contrast might bring out the colours a little. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
