This was taken during my 2nd trip down to South Island from Wellington on board the ferry. The ferry trip from Wellington to Picton has got some awesome scenery which always reminds me of the "Middle Earth" of LOTR landscape and I have to admit it was true minus those CGIs!

Yes, it does remind me of LOTR territory. The pic looks like part of a dragon covered in a thin, velvet blanket. Okay, so my imagination is a bit off-the-wall, but you get my drift. Nice, Danny!

haven't seen LOTR so can't agree with that (can't disagree either)... when i saw the thumbnail i thought you came up with the title because the clouds are working as a giant softbox wich gives you this awesome diffuse light

This is spectacular scenery. The light is perfect for this shot enhancing the curvature of the mountain-side. I would maybe crop a little of the foreground.

the play of light and shadow, the gullies and the different colors of the vegetation makes it a great picture

Very beautiful. The softness of the mountain are great. It's like it's wrapped in a green velvet cloth or something like that. The clouds at the top have that same beautiful softness. They really look so light and airy and at the same time solid like some kind of envelope over the mountain. The texture created by the shadows in the ripples of the mountain is great. Very nicely photographed.

Quel endroir merveilleux. Merci de nous faire partager, au travers de cette excellente photographie, la magie d'un tel endroit. Les nuages bas donnent un effet de mystère et de froid, en contradiction avec le soleil faisant briller terres et herbes.

What a fantastic landscape! Very well captured with great colours and clarity.
Very well done.

I like the capture of light, the soft band of light across the middle with shadow above and below, especially since the water is all in the same light. I like the framing as well, to have dark balanced on both sides in the bottom third. (I notice though, you might have picked up part of the ferry on the extreme right edge). Good shot!

Magnifique payasage ! Un grand calme se dégage de cette photo ... Et celle-ci ne fait que renforcer mon envie de découvrir ce pays ! Bravo !

C'est une très belle photo aux couleurs agréables. J'aime bien la petite verdure éparpillée dans tout le sable. Nice shot Danny.

Fabulous combination of beautiful light and beautiful landscape in this shot. The soft cloud cover is a bonus. Very impressive shot Danny!

Am I going to love this place! You were right. It is a Natural Studio for LOTR. Without NZ's four seasons kind of landscapes, it would be hardpressed for them to shoot LOTR.

Really nice shot Danny,
the game between the shadows and the sunlight is superb.
The Marlborough region is really beautiful when the sun shines.
You can have a look at my Marlborough's shot :p

This is a great one. The buildings add the needed sense of scale. One could spend weeks wandering around there.
Luckily your photo is well composed, so the eye wanders nicely up and down the ridges.

Très beau cliché! Couleur très réaliste. Netteté parfaite, ainsi que le cadrage... L'effet de volume et de profondeur est bien rendu par la lumière (ombre dans les dessins de la montagne...).
Bravo, belle photo de paysage.

I arrive late but I am satisfied to have seen this photo. The peaks of the mountain are magnificently returned well with this very beautiful light. The fog at the bottom is impressive as a cloud which comes down towards hills. I like very much this small tint of green and I find the excellent composition.

I like this composition, by having the mountain as the big part of the picture and the sea as a small part. The houses make a good tone for the picture.

Very nice picture, I like the soft tones and the general atmosphere. Good "eye" for the frame.
