This is Whale Bay. Situated just northeast of the city of Whangarei. They say Whangarei is the city of a thousand beaches and that can’t be far from the truth. This beach is about a 10 minute walk from the carpark and well worth the walk.
Unfortunately it was still a bit cold for swimming but a pleasant afternoon stroll and picnic spot.
Hope you enjoy this shot.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Paul. Nice work with all of those curving lines from the wash, the tree tops and the branches themselves. Strong sense of harmony. I like the colours too, soft and inviting. Well done. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Paul,
No one on the beach, very strange. But because we don't have such lovely beaches as you have, it is always looks like heaven seeing such places.
Very good composed image with lots of depth in it. Beautiful colours in the water...really good.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Paul, we had a wonderful summers day at Whales Bay many, many years ago. It is such a beautiful secluded beach, and as a family we all have some great memories of it. And a few photos too.
Last year we were up that way and saw it in the distance (from one of the other beaches), but we didn't stop to visit. I took a photo of it from afar though.
Beautiful shot here looking down onto the sand thru the trees. And NO humans there either! TFS and bringing back more memories for me.
Janice

Ciao Paul.

Bonsoir Paul

What a beautiful little piece of lost paradise and no one there to enjoy it. Marvelous POV with great sense of framing with the trees all around.
TFS, Peter

Hi Paul. A true paradise is what this shot reminds me of. Beautiful color of the water and the surroundings of the beach. Your point of view here enhances the curvature of the beach. Very nice capture and good use of light. Cheers :-)

Roberto

Hello Paul

Hola Paul...certainly a delightful spot...a place to hide and dream...beautifully captured: love the cuved lines, the framing trees, the lighting & details...and for that colour of water...wow!

Bonjour Paul,

Hi Paul,
I like the way you framed this sandy finger curving around the green water and the excellent detail of the leaves. Like the other reviewers, I would love to be there. I had to look up the beach where your new intro photo was taken. That is a very remote location. With such a lovely, remote beach as Whale Bay much closer to you: I'm surprised that ever travel. as intro photos go, it's a fun shot although I'm more from the school that goes for the photo ID shot rather than the mystery shot.

HI Paul, you have a great point of view and you composition is pefect in my eyes, the hight that you took the photo from shows the beach to its very best, and the colour of the water looks so good.

Hi Paul,
Now who want not to visit this place after seeing your photo? Splendid framing from a distance and an elevated position. Colors appear natural and DOF is great. Best wishes. Danilo

Hi Paul,
Yes, it looks like the lost paradise, and you show it to us here in order that we could enjoy it.
The beach of white sand, the water of the sea of color turquoise and the trees create a very nice and pleasant image.
I like the tranquility that transmits this image for the loneliness of this place.
Made well.
Regards,
Josep

What a fantastic color of green-blue Paul. Very good POV and cadrage.

Congrats,

Sarhan.

Hi Paul.

The "natural" frame is excellent in the picture. I like the different "green" colours too.

A nice shot!

Hi Paul,

What are the temperature there in October?
Splendid sand beach between the green vegetation without big buildings in the environment, splendid picture Paul, we get the winter here with storm and much rain! Excellent composition. Thanks for sharing.

Greetings from Belgium,
John.

Hi Paul,

Wow..., beautiful beach, good POV and framing. TFS:-)

Fara

Hi Paul - it does look like the tropics, all you need is a few coconut trees, I have a nearly identical but overexposed and badly scanned version which I will add to workshop.

Hi Paul,

Beautiful landscape and great perspective, I like the light and the definition of the scene, an interesting form to show this place, a small paradise, good work!

José

Hello Paul
An interesting beach, which looks so very tropical..but in your note I read about the chill! You've taken this shot from a nice POV framed with the trees, with the diagonal of the beach in a long sweeping curve. The colours are gorgeous. Lovely shot from paradise

What is the secret about empty beaches? I somehow don't get it. They have such a magical atmosphere and it feels kind of having a huge paradise-like playground for yourself.
Concerning the picture there is nothing negative to mention. Nicely taken through a "window" of leaves with the beach crossing it from the lower right corner upwards to the left.
Well done,
Andreas

Salut Paul,
une belle vue avec un cadrage sympathique avec toute cette forêt luxuriante et cette belle bande de sable.
Amicalement
Jean-Marie

Hi Paul,
This is a great shot, the colors are superb. Very good POV too...
Well done. Uğur

Hello Paul! Very nice work here. I like the use of the trees as a frame around the scene, it's almost somewhat like a tunnel effect. The run of the beach is well positioned, while it curves it still seems to follow the diagonal of the frame helping the eye sweep the scene. The colors are warm and saturated just perfectly. Well done!

Regards,
Doug

Hi Paul
Nice shot and one that has a nice idyllic feeling to the scene. Good framing with the foliage acting as a frame around the turquoise waters. Nice pov and good sharpness.
Aubrey

Hello Paul,
What an idyllic place you show here! Like the way this beach is framed by the trees enhancing so well the turquoise waters and this beautiful beach.
Cheers.
Paulo

merhaba dear paul

Hi Paul,

Yeah this could be paradise. Nice capture. Very good colors and quite sharp picture. well done. TFS

Hi Paul,
Showing this beautiful pic of our coastline reminds me that I should be spending more time enjoying it and less time working! The composition, from your high vantage point, gives a great pespective and I love the colours. For the most part, the light is well controlled but there's a portion of the beach that looks a little over exposed. Apart from that, you have an excellent image here.
Well done, my friend.

Best wishes,
Tony

Hi Paul, i see your last three posts are killers !
I love this one, so beautiful, change from the idea i have of New Zealand (green grass and sheeps ;) ), so beautiful POV on this beach :)

Oh! Sure it is the paradise, Paul! Beautiful beach! Is it nearby the Bay of Plenty? Well, I just ask because I´ve been in Rotorua and from there I went to the White Island by helicopter, flying over the beautiful bay.
Nice colours and great POV!

Hi Paul,
With nobody visible on the beach and this one emerging through the trees I get the sense of a preserved virgin paradise, for that this PoV is effective and the sand contrast is lovely among all these greens.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

This really IS paradise found! Very beautiful - both the setting and photograph. Regards, Doug
