So pretty and so close to Auckland. We went on a day hike just 30 minutes outside the city at the Waitakeres.

We came across a few people, but considering our proximity to the city - this place was a real gem.

Expansive views, fresh air and a nice breeze... heaven!

You are right Dan, this is a very pretty spot indeed. I suppose it is like this all over NZ,you just have to walk a few minutes out of the cities and you will find stunning places like this.

great photo and fantastic place there, near Whatipu. The views from the hill are stunning, especially this view we see on the photo. Waitakere Ranges and the coastline is a great place for tramping. Cheers, Matt
