Photographer’s Note
My first attempt at B+W.
Taken of the Turakina River, which is not surprisingly up the Turakina valley. Mostly agricultural land it is a place I visit from time to time with my camera
Hope you enjoy this one. Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul, I'm not so keen on the composition (the patch of mud - I hope - to the left is not that attractive) but I'm pleased to see that you've aimed at keeping to a few simple elements and that you've achieved good deep blacks and nice bright whites, all key to a good B&W photo. I certainly look forward to more monochrome photos from you. Stephen

Hi Paul,
WOW,
I love your first attempt at BW.
This picture lends it self to it well.
I love the ripples in the water and the contrasting greys.
Well done
PS nice to see someone else in the Rangitikei area. I do most of my photography around Bulls.

Hey Paul
You noted this is your FIRST attempt on B&W effect. But you have done the best on it, providing such atmospheric and artistically rendered image.
This view is a very normal one, but through the lens and effect, you have transformed it into one cool shot. Never mind of the lackness of composition.
Cool shot, Paul.

Jolie composition Paul. J'aime beaucoup ce reflet dans l'eau brisé par le courant. C'est une photo mélancolique mais si jolie. bravo.

Hi Paul, I like this shot. There's a dreamlike and sombre quality in the dark, distorted reflections of the branches. One normally associates this kind of photo with colour, but your attempt works surprisingly well in b & w. Subtly framed too. Nice one!

great shot! looking forward to see the other attempts!
i am not a vey experienced B&W photographer, but i am a bit unsure about the effect of the very white part on the upper right side and the wide white framing.. but again, i\m not an expert and i really like the composition.

The variant patterns of the water's surface make for a fantastic reflection, Paul. The tilt adds a subtle interest as do the light variations of the sky.. A very well-composed image, excellent in black & white. Well done.

Hi Paul,
Typically I don't care much for B&W and long to see the colors but your choice of B&W is perfect here!! Those amazing patterns of the tree reflection as they merge with the patterns of the river almost require the purity of B&W. They look like they are floating in liquid siver. Just Wonderful!!

Greetings Paul! I had not seen this one previously, it's quite artistic and even abstract. The reflections are very painterly and the contrast in scene pefect. Good work with B&W.
