Looking out to sea towards Kapiti Island which is the predominant physical feature along this part of the coast. The Tree is a small Pohutakawa, which flowers just around Christmas time, so it is nicknamed the Kiwi Christmas Tree, the red flowers are quite bright when there is a large group of trees. They can grow quite big, this is just a baby at 6ft high.
Taken on a walk along the track between Pukerua Bay and Wairaka Point. |

You've captured the true Kiwi summer with this shot - Pohutakawa by the sea. Nicely framed, the tree leads the eye out to Kapiti.
