Photographer’s Note
Auckland's Karangahape Road is an interesting mixture of urban culture. It is home to such diversity as high end art galleries which neighbor laundry shops and adult stores. This is the only 24 hour Laundromat in Auckland. In order to get tokens for its use, one must venture into one of the neighboring stores which include 2 adult shops and a head shop. In between the corner where I was able to find parking and this store, there are two high end art galleries, several adult stores, and the offices of the New Zealand Prostitutes Council. As I happily snapped away on the street, I got some inquisitive looks from passers by, some nervous looks from the people coming and going from this red light shop, all the while being serenaded by the stars of the Cabaret which was across the street. Though not for everybody, K-road as it is affectionately called beats with its own rhythm and pulse. A definite night stop for any Auckland visitor.
this shot was about a three second bulb shot.
