Family Snapshot.

Someplace west of Waitomo, North Island, New Zealand.

As ever with this sort of shot; it's just so difficult to get everyone to stand still.

Très intéressant portrait de famille avec des visages très expressifs, mais ils ont l'air de se moquer totalement du photographe...

Hi Colin,
Very nice composition and beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing.
Serge

Well yes, I can see the resemblance!

I love the composition. The sky might be overdone a bit. But the color is good, and you caught the texture of the rocks very well with the noon lighting.

I bet you had to wait a long time to get this family to settle down. This is a nice composition, with the rocks providing an interesting foreground and the shapes mirrored by the puffy clouds. Well balanced and peaceful. Great job!

Great composition here of a fairly simple subject matter. I really feel like I'm there looking at the same thing you are. Nicely seen and captured,

Brian

Hi Colin,
LOL... very funny! :o)))
Yeah, I noticed the little one on the right is trying to sneak away!
Great compo, wonderful colors. I love those clouds! Did you use a polariser?
Regards, Brigitte

So simple, yet so majestic. Others rather than me could say why this composition si good - I just know it works.

Kia Ora Colin,
Well interesting family and a great work on colors and contrasts, looks like you've been using a polarising filter, is it possible to mount one on the CP995 ?
I loved the last sentence of your note ;-))
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Excellent note :)
I like the gentle curve of the hill, and the different textures are insteresting. I just find that the upper part of the sky is a bit too dark compared to the bottom part.

funny:-), this is a simple composition but the natural colours are really nice here, and actually -yes, when you look at the stones for a while you may get the feeling that they're leaning towards each other for a family photo (or perhaps it's what the subconsiousness does with your title in mind:-))i like it, a "cute" photo I'd say:-)
greetings
A.

this one is nice colin.. I like the idea of making the title here.. good sky and light here.. you got everything.. cheers!

wow! great composition, and well saturated colors. I would have preferred the big rock to be a little bit more off-centered. great sky...
cheers,
Behrang

Hi Colin,

New Zealand oozes photograph opportunities. This weathered rock cluster is beautiful, it has possibly never been photographed before, waiting thousands of years for this moment. I love the polarisation here, it is so deep and vivid; the saturation is wonderful. You have to be careful walking around the Waitomo region not to fall into a hidden cave or hole. This is one place I would really like to return to with my future dSLR to take some long exposures of the glow worms. Thanks for this shot (I was actually in the area the same time as you).

Matt
