Photographer’s Note
Devonport
This is the end of a man-made groin built to protect the little beach here at Devonport, on the North Shore of Auckland.
The couple on the seat were writing notes / postcards and the little boy appeared from nowhere and had a great time playing on the rock wall.
The water is the Waitemata Harbour, and the orange building you can on the waterfront in the distance is Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World on Auckland’s scenic Tamaki Drive.

Hi Janice,
Great colors and light on this photo. Your composition is very good with these people and clouds. How nice to hear that somewhere people are going to meet summer... In Russia the people almost ready to meet cold winter soon :), but it is still pretty good weather in Moscow in this season.
With BEST regards,
Arthur

Yes of course, here in Europe we are preparing for winter (although it's taking its time, in France at least, it still feels like early September), but you are heading to the nice days of summer! Interesting view, I like the nice architecture of the pier (glorious paved stones! and nice light on them) and the attitude of the three people (particularly the little boy), and the landscape in the background. Glorious sky as well. There is something bothering me in the composition though, but I can't find what (maybe the centered horizon?). Oh well, I'll keep it like that (crop out the top of the lamp maybe?).

This is a good one, Janice, the deep textured low clouds on a blue sky, texturing by good contrast on the stones of this pier, nicely put these people on it and the boy steals the show well placed in the frame and the level of the landscape at the horizont, all very sharp, excellent shot, pleasant to see this scene, taget well focussed and good balance.

Interesting composition and an amazing sky. Auckland skies always seem so varying and full of character and you have captured this well.
Cheers
